Grrrrrr my cb antenna won't go below 6 swr. I added an extra ground just in case. Any suggestions?

Did you get in on that group buy?

 

I feel like someone was having that problem no to long ago and found it to be the powder coating on their bracket. @northwesttaco might remember?

 

Did you grind the bracket to bare metal where the antenna mounts and where the bracket mounts to the body?

 

I did some. I suppose I could go through it and grind a little more.

 

I'd like to think as long as the general area is clear of paint, you should have a good ground. Maybe grind the hood hinge or where ever you have the bracket mounted to metal also.

 

but yeah I'd grind down the powder coating

I had the same issue with a new radio, found out I was using a poor quality coax. A new one from firestick with their "fire ring" end solved my issues.

 

Mine is the fire ring. Grrr

Do you have the white, nylon isolator/bushing on the correct side of the antenna mount? Post a close up pic of the antenna base and mounting bracket.

No. Summit Racing for the 3 packaged and the yellow from Mule

 

I didn't grind anything on my Relentless mounts or the hood. I did not want to create a rust issue. I just ran a ground wire using a ring terminal. My SWR is almost spot on without tuning my 3' Firestick.

Just took a pick. It is a FireRing.


What antenna are you running?

 

Night and day difference.
I still think the 18' coax is slightly too long by 9'
