LR 6. Finally got it fingered out. After viewing one of the you tube tutorials I have made a little progress. Unfortunately, this picture was not taken in raw. SDC11995.jpg

LR6 . Thought I figured it out. Now I'm getting some crap that says, "server busy". WTF?!? So, this program isn't installed on my computer for my sole use? I paid a hundred forty nine to 'rent time'? What am I missing?

I thought LR6 was a stand alone one. It doesn't say CC on it does it? Maybe that is the server for updates. Does it let you into the program to do anything after that message?

He probably has LR CC. I rebuilt my machine a few months ago and you wouldn't believe the hoops I had to jump through just to find a download link for LR 6 on Adobe's website.

LR6. No CC. I paid 149 thinking it was stand alone. Not sure why it's constantly 'not responding'. Only got the 'server busy' message once. Probably the Adobe Creative Manager that I inadvertently downloaded.

Very odd. Contacted Adobe via chat. Had me un-install. Did so. Installed. Opened it up and damned if all my photos were still there. WTF? If I uninstalled, wouldn't all my imports be gone? Program is currently working, but it's a damned mystery to me. It's working, but had it 'not respond' during developing once so far. Maybe I hit a double key or something stupid. Not trusting this program so far. Still just playing with basic functions. Here's another re-work. Really have to go shoot some more in raw.

Don't give up on it yet. Lightroom is a great program and I'm sure you'll find out what's wrong and get past it. The reason your photos were still there after uninstalling is that Lightroom maintains a catalog or library or something (can't remember what they call it) so that when you change versions etc you don't have to reimport and rework all your photos.

Yes, 'catalog'. Gotcha. I'll hang in there. Seems like a far superior program than what I was using.

Lightroom 6 is still giving me problems. Locked up on me twice, "program is not responding", last night. Still playing with older photos, though. High res jpeg exposures. Not raw.

Hang in there. LR is a very powerful program with a bit of a learning curve. The best thing to keep in the back of your mind is that it is non-destructive to your photos so you cannot "lose" your originals. As others have said, everything is stored in a separate catalog that LR reads when it opens.

It's not the loss of pictures that irritates me, it's the lock up, itself. And having to restart the program. I do like what I have used, so far. Only on tutorial one of many, on you tube.

Lightroom is amazing and very useful. I'm always learning new little tricks on there.
