As I've been laying in bed not able to fall back to sleep every night for the past few weeks I think I've decided that sleep must be another luxury I can't afford.

Anyone else long for a nap all day, and then can't fall asleep at night? Ps I've been up for over an hour and don't need to go to work until 10

Happens all the time. At work, tired all day. Get home do my thing. Go to bed and wide awake.

I don't really have insomnia. I don't have any trouble sleeping at work.

Just kidding...I work hard and I'm not poor :). Just forgot how to sleep!

I'll struggle to stay awake sometimes coming home at night, but then I have trouble falling asleep. Wtf
And even if I got to bed at 3am, I'm still up by 7

All joking aside, prolonged insomnia (as opposed to occasional) can be a serious health issue, serving as the root cause for many other problems.

Try Googling 'sleep hygiene'. There may be something useful you find. Like all other medical issues though, you have to be willing to change existing bad habits. Or at least try.

It does seem to be a more common thing among older women though, even when they follow the rules. Several family and friends, including my wife, struggle with it.

    Time for my pre-breakfast nap.
