    Do you know what they call a 33" tire in France... :p

    On a serious note, on paper the only difference is 33x11.5-17 being 0.3" wider than 285/70-17. In reality, all tire models deviate slightly from the standardized spec. Best bet is to go on TireRack.Com or the tire mfr's web site, and compare the actual tire width and diameter for your old and new tires.

    Will 285/75/16 fit without rubbing on a 2.5 inch lift or will i need spacers?

    That's been beat to death.... try the search function on the site and you'll find hundreds of replies to that very question.

    It depends on your wheels you intend to run. On stock, you'll rub UCAs when steering. If you pick an aftermarket wheel with too little backspace you'll rub the body mount BAD as well as the bottom lip of the inner fender behind the bumper. Most guys with 285 rub the cab mount to some extent, so most cut/box it themselves or pay a shop to do it if they don't have the tools. I sell a CNC cut cab mount boxing plate if you need one.

    3 inch front strut spacer and 2 inch real add a leaf with dif..drop down spacers.
    Sounds good. I've been trying to put 22" on my taco with 3 inch lift. Does anyone know if it's possible to do that?

    I didn't see this mentioned anywhere, so I just thought I should mention;

    It's important to remember that the first number is the tire's section width, NOT tread width. That means that it's the distance from sidewall to sidewall, NOT from the inside shoulder to the outside shoulder across the tread face.

    I'm trying to follow. I have 235/75/15, what is the equivalent in inches? I like to look for tires at garage sales and never know what the inches equivalent is.

    Great info! Is there a page that will show me the clear distances for various back spaces and tire sizes, or a way to calculate that before buying and installing new wheels, tires, and lift?

    So if my tires are 265/65/17, according to your awesome post they would be...

    width: 265/25.4 = 10.43"
    sidewall: 10.43 x .65 = 6.78"
    overall: (6.78 x 2) + 17 = 30.56" tall. So 31x10.50 R17?

    So for my 17" wheels, can I fit 32" tires? Thanks for your help!

    In most cases upsizing to the next profile should be fine, in your case a 265/70/17.

    One more question, I would like to get wider tires. Is that possible with the wheels I have? Thanks again for your help

    on stock wheels it typically isnt. They'll start rubbing the frame or suspension (UCA) because they have too much backspace. If you add spacers it can help a bit, but spacers also increase steering scrub radius and my cause rubbing in other places at that point

    Gotcha. Would it help if I got the front lifted a bit (with like say Bilstein 5100s). So basically if I just lift the front a couple of inches, what's the biggest/widest size tires could I put on there?
