I searched the 1st get forum with no luck. Didn't find anything on youtube either. Doing my belt and water pump next weekend and want to install the new cam and crank seals. How big of a bitch is this job once I'm in there to replace the t belt? I see where some guys just skip the seals too.

Fairly easy. For the cam seals you have to remove the cam pulley then just pop out the seal and put in a new one. Use a piece of pipe the diameter of the seal and get it flush. Crank same way, or possible to tap around the seal until seated. Main thing is being careful with the cams as they can rotate on you when messing with removing the pulley. You want to get it back to TDC before putting belt back on. I did mine and got them from Toyota of Dallas.

How does one just "pop out" those seals? I took a good, hard look at mine and decided against replacing them because I didn't want to booger them and then have to tow the truck somewhere to get them out.

Guess that comes from being so damn over-cautious...

    The cam pulleys just unbolt.

Go to O'Reilly and borrow their puller for the crank pulley. You'll pay a deposit but you'll get your money back when you return the tool.

Sounds like those seals could be in there pretty tight. Any special tools needed to "pop out" the old seals?

I just used a screw driver to deform the seal and then pop it out. I think I poked it through the rubber part and then pry'd it out
