Wishbone Runner's Build

I busted out a bunch of stuff over the past two weekends, ripped the entire front end apart:

- New Rack Doctor rack
- Whiteline rack bushings
- TC cam tab gussets and crack repair
- LCA rebuild with new uniballs, cleaned up the bushings and welded on new limit strap tabs
- Cut the body up for clearance on the tophats for the engine crossover brace

New rack feels SOOOO much better, steering is tight and effort less, have been this excited about basic maintenance in a while

 

So the Toyota parts were correct, but did not fix the play, which was in the bushing that is part of the support itself, and not available without buying the whole support for ~$150 each. So, returning those and going to order the Whiteline kit . . .

Also got a shit ton of maintenance done this past week:

- Tranny filter and reseal of the pan that was seeping, then a full flush.
- Replaced the hardware for my headlights to Grade 8 (clearly overkill but has the nice zinc coating so the don't rust)
- Cleaned my air inlet and precleaner
- Pulled the ARB rear locker line and ran some fuel line over it for better protection, and used these handy zip tie tabs from Ruffstuff to better route along the frame

Have some new rear hard brake lines on order, the ones that the stainless that go to the axle attached to the frame connect to, as well as some speed bleeders. I did a shitty job on the flaring of them, and while they are holding strong and look solid, I feel they should be replaced for safety reasons.

Also got my blue bling in last week, they will be the next item addressed on the to do list.

Finally, took advantage of Discount Tire's president's day sale and ordered some new wheels. Was originally going to go with the trackers which are identical to the Mickey Thompsons that I currently have, so decided to switch it up and go with the Bullys.

Naa fixed that problem. Just hope it's not stupid dumb crap like a radiator or alternator

 

Here are my rear 12" RR Kings. King has options to reduce the extended and collapsed lengths on their shocks by selecting a "welded lower end" as well as the "Over the cylinder top cap" (for up to 12" stroke), allowing reduction 1.75" off of the standard lengths. Welded lower is zero additional cost, over cylinder top cap adds $35 per shock. The 12" RRs that I ordered come standard as 32.65"/20.65", with the above options they were reduced to 30.9"/18.9". This will allow me to stuff these into a space where they normally would not fit and rob me of up travel. Also the valving that I ended up with.

 

Looks like a fun time. When is install?

 

Probably weekend after next. I have some Ruffstuff mounts that I am going to work with, but not sure exactly how they will end up mounted, going to be a cut into and see type of project
