He also lives in the desert where they can get shots like that all the time. :jellydance:

I kind of have a feeling this will fill with star trails which I can step out into the back yard / Eastern Sierra and hammer down, but I wanted to throw up something different.

Here is my buddy gettin' some on a lakebed outside Death Valley NP ~ Stoppin' time during a good time.

I ran into Anthony Carbajal in Redlands this afternoon. He is an amazing photographer and was diagnosed with ALS while taking care of his mother who also has it. He gave up on photography for a while but missed his creative passion so he first made a chest mount while he could still walk since he couldn't use his hands, and now he is trying to get out with his chair mount and do more photography around the area. He has been on Ellen, toured with bands and been interviewed by countless media outlets for his passion for raising awareness for ALS. He taught us all about it and took a few photos of me so I asked for a couple of him as well. Used to shoot Canon, but is shooting with a Sony A7 II system now. Amazing guy.

If anything makes you think about TIME it is being diagnosed with ALS, where it is only a matter of time until you slowly become paralyzed. Such an upbeat and positive dude! Loved getting to know him today!

Those mirrorless Sony's are pretty sweet. Especially when it comes to night photography. They have a live view of your exposure settings, so there is no more waiting 30 seconds to see if your photo is properly exposed.

I'm a big advocate for going mirrorless for "most people" in general. Lots of perks (size/weight, life EVF view, newer tech, wifi control from your phone, focus peaking making manual focusing impossible to mess up, etc.), only a couple of downfalls (battery life and AF speed).

I've been wanting to get a mirrorless since it is smaller and I'd be more likely to take it with me most places. Maybe towards the summer I'll get one. I did watch a video of Chris Burkard and noticed he is using the sony mirrorless which I was super surprised with considering how he uses it.

Meh, tools are tools. I guarantee you guys like him could make it happen with an iPhone or a P&S if they had to. One thing we don't really consider is how much Limitations beget Creativity. So they camera doesn't Auto Focus at the speed of light... I guess you'll have to learn how to adapt and grow your skills as a photographer. So the camera doesn't do x, y, z? Big deal, learn some skillz yo haha.

I'm not trying to be too facetious, but seriously, I can build a house with a hammer and nails, but a nail gun makes life easier. I feel the same way about cameras. I'm more worried about finding the gear that I get on with, that sparks my creativity and passion to shoot, and gets out of my way, than I am some spec sheet or pixel peeping. Just one view of things I guess ha.

Reminds me of the Pro Photog, Cheap Camera series on Youtube. Here's one where Chase Jarvis uses the Lego Camera:

haha I agree with everything you said, I was just surprised he wasn't using nikon or canon. it makes sense though considering he is trying to stay light. I definitely feel like a mirrorless will help my creativity by at least being easier to take with me. Whenever I do take my dslr with me i usually only take my 35mm lens so something like that in mirrorless will probably be pretty small

That's why I love my Ricoh GR. It's a "crap" camera compared to most, but it's so easy to just always carry. Fits in a shirt pocket, pants pocket, wherever. Even the X100T is nice and small, but doesn't fit in my pockets ha.
