Should I get these headlight bulbs?

Lol I fit them all man. You just gotta be creative with fitting it back on. Usually the back of it that holds either the heatsink or fan you have to keep off. Put the bulb in first, put the retention clip back on then from there you can slip the boot on over the open part of the bulb then you thread on the heatsink or fan. If space doesn't allow it (which it did for one of mine) all you have to do is either press in the sleeved part of the boot towards the light while you thread in the heatsink or fan. I have never modified my boot or trimmed it in any way and I always fit it back on over all my LED headlight replacements.

 

I dunno man, the VLEDs I had the bulb and fan were not able to be separated. Because of this one of the legs of the retention clip was just kinda wedged onto the heatsink/fan. I wasn't a fan of that. I personally would stay away from any LED bulbs designed that way because of that fact. If they work for you then awesome, I'll stick with my 80/85w halogens.

 

These appear to have a removable base, and lets play devils advocate and say it does not. He can still always remove the set screw which is on the actual light adapter plate to fit into the housing which will allow him to remove the plate, then he could fit the boot on, and reinstall the plate and set screw then set his depth and beam spread adjustment. Like I said, you just gotta gotta be creative is all.



I'll tell you right now. The way I would do it is remove the plate first entirely, fit the boot on, then from there compare to the stock bulb on where the plate tabs are mounting up, set the angle it will be at so it the shield and lights are replicating the stock beam pattern and then from there mount it all back up.

I see this is a little old, but I just installed the OPT7's, and while the clip was a huge PITA, I was able to get them in no problem. Took a little finagling to get it around the ballast housing, but basically just bent it wider to fit around the fan, then it held in place between the bulb and the fan and clipped right into place once in the housing.

I'm mostly concerned about the fan being exposed, more so for the fog lights. Just gonna risk it and see how it goes.

 

Care to provide a picture of a few angles? I'm curious to see how you got them in.

 

I'll try... it wasn't easy. Passenger's side just kinda fell in place when I forced the clip around the fan, think I got lucky. The Driver's side took a LOT longer, the clip kept popping out of the housing. So I took the clip out completely, I literally just forced it around the fan, held it at an angle to get the clip back in to where it locks in (with the bulb tip half way in the housing), then put the bulb in and locked the clip down. The battery and washer fluid tank make it that much harder as there's very little room to work with.

 

Don't skimp on lights. They're part of your safety and you always want the best for that

 

I'd save up for a retrofit. At even $135 it's a heck of a lot better than any replacement bulbs or PNP kits that will blind others.
