Thanks for the info on ST Maxx guys. I am running the ST tire in this size now. It is an AT tread, but works great off road and highway. But lookin for the next set soon. Hopefully supply will catch up .

I think I'm set on the S/T Maxx, but now I'm considering 285s again because it seems like it's very difficult to find 255s. Even if I can get 4-5 of them now, I might be SOL if I need a replacement...or two.

I Recently relocated to Mexico and Unfortunately Dealer Service Quality is not the same (this side of the border) :(

Had to call California and request Service docs, which I shared with local techs to diagnose 4LOW issues.
I wouldn't trust the local dealer with a Frame Replacement.

Keeping my fingers Xd I get my rig back this week :)

So what's the favorite after market wheel to go with these tires? With backspacing and off set.

As I understand it, with any other tire manufacture, your stock wheels are just fine. I have the Toyo MT and they are a bit larger than the other manu in same size.

Because of this, my Toyo MT rubbed everything UCA, LCA, frame. I solved it by going to some 4Runner limited wheels. I love them.

    16"x7" 4.5" BS (15mm offset).

No more rubbing (except mud flap under compression, which I'll solve with aftermarket UCA, etc.)

Edit: tire rubs pinch weld under heavy compression, will end up beating the pinch weld back.

    Thanks. :)

Right now my aligmnet has no caster (zero). And when I get aftermarket UCA to correct alignment, I'm expecting to get to 3* Caster, with zero toe, and zero camber.

I already have 8.5" wheels, and money dont grow on trees.

If it doesn't work I wont be forcing it, just going with 285's.

Not sure. I know it's been talked about on here. With a width of on 10.2" I think you may be pushing it with a 8.5" wheel. But idk

For what it's worth I had 8.5" wheels but when I got 255s I swapped wheels with a member on here to get 7" wheels. So if you're set on 255s like I was you don't necessarily have to buy new wheels if you don't mind trading with someone on here.

I would say don't do it. I have the FJ Trail Teams that are 7.5" wide and I wouldn't want to go any wider. You can see the tire is stretched wider where it mounts vs the tread width.

Just go look at the tire specs of the tire you are interested in. Sites like tirerack provide good info, the manufacture will spec what the widest wheel you can mount a specific size tire on.

do you mean 8.5? Cause most wheels that people run these on are 8" wide.
