If you have the relay wired correctly it shouldn't burn the switch out. Just enough power to flip the relay on runs through the switch, while the main load to power the lights runs through the relay. Unless you're drawing enough power to fry the relay and short the switch...

This question is as useless as asking, do you prefer blonds or brunettes? Does it really matter, I like them all! :D Especially redheads.

none as of yet there is not much to offer here in germany ,but when i get back to the states next year it's a different ball game
on or off /well where i live it's illegal unless weather permits germany will ticket you for anything i use them for night driving since there are no street lights on the autobahn untill you reach a city or town,or rest stop other than that it's pitch black and perfect for hid lights or even daylighters if you can get away with it

To those who leave their fogs on:

Check with your state laws to see if they are illegal to have them on during clear weather.

I have been pulled over and issued a warning for having my fogs on.

I was driving back home from Amarillo, TX one night. Just before I crossed the Oklahoma panhandle border, I ran into a whole bunch of blowing dirt and visibility was poor. So I turned my fogs on. I kept them on since I felt I was able to see better, plus it was around 12:30am on a weeknight so there wasn't much traffic. After I went through Guymon, OK and the police stopped me. As soon as he got to my window he told me to turn off my fogs. Turns out, in Oklahoma, having your fogs on while visibility is greater than 1/4 mile is illegal.

More states are incorporating this law, so just a heads up.

This blows my mind. Running factory foglights with your lowbeams at night, and it's illegal? WTF am I missing? Fogs are widespread, low distance, and aimed to the ground. How can that be blinding? F'n treehuggers...

Not to mention, your high beams are even more blinding and supposed to be turn OFF for oncoming traffic so really, who gets blinded by fogs and high beams?!

I like having them on with my highs for filling in some of the gap closer to the truck to see potholes and animals that run out in front of the truck closer than the focal point of the highs. Stupid laws.

The problem is some people don't adjust them properly. I find certain ones are blinding and can be dangerous to oncoming traffic. If they aren't needed why use them? I wouldn't complain if it was illegal here along with HIDs. Offroading is a different story. The more lights the better :)

Sometimes I run with the fogs on....sometimes off. Just depends on the weather and my mood. Most of the time they're on though.

I like to run like this in bad weather, dusk, dawn, etc.

    .

I have the amber DRLs but prefer the regular headlights on all the time.

I use the fogs in bad weather and they are great in the fog too. They aim low and do not reflect the fog.

OFF.....when the ignition is off. I dont run hi-beams at all, so my fogs would be on with the low-beam anyway at night. if you think my factory low-beam and factory fogs are too bright, you should see my factory hi's

OK, so I found a MAJOR flaw with the fog light mod...

There are many times when I just leave my headlights on when I shut the truck off. The headlights go off with the truck but come on when it starts back up. Always loved this feature (also had it on my 1st gen).

Anyway, I also have DTRL's. Several times, I started my truck and drove off assuming my headlights were on. BUT THEY ARE NOT! In town, its very hard to tell because of the street lights. I have driven for 10+ minutes at night before I realized my headlights were not on...just my fogs and DTRL's.
I haven't been pulled over yet but it will happen if a cop sees me without my lights on.

OK, so maybe not a flaw with the fog light mod but a flaw with me

My '09, with factory DRL's, has an indicator in the instrument cluster that tells when the headlights are on. It's a little green sun.

Fogs always ON at night, only with low beams. We have a lot of deer around and the fogs really help illuminate the sides. Never run ANY lights during the daytime. I personally don't like headlights on during the daytime - I find it very annoying. As a former avid motorcyclist, I understand the visibilty issue, but I have to say, even back then, I never liked having a motorcycle behind me - especially with pulsed lighting.

I can understand the pulsed lighting thing. That is annoying.

I live in NY where it's nearly ALWAYS overcast and cloudy. Nearly every day I see vehicles with lights off that are difficult to see due their dark color, dark roads, shadows, trees, etc. I find it so much easier to see cars sooner when they have some sort of lights on. When I lived in SC where there were hardly any trees lining the roads, most of the roads were flat, and the sun was always out it wasn't as much of a problem. NY seems to spend more time in a dusk/dawn-like lighting situation than full out sun where every thing is easily visible.
