Read as much as you can about some issues in this forum and look for them when you test drive your choice.

I'm probably not your ideal peer...

If you want the long box. You will have to get the Automatic transmission.

I think you should get sr5 v6 auto double cab. There quite a few trd sport and offRoad parts in the marketplace, you can buy to upgrade or replace later.
    - I think manual only come in 4x4
    - some people report of slip, and problem with the manual
    - auto in cruise mode kinda suck cause it keep down shift when it come to a hill
    - but if you have the money I guest trd

Any reason you're considering the Sport over the Off-road?

Good God man. Do you have any idea of how many different responses you will get to a question like that on this forum? Are you insane?

I'd consider an Access cab if you are only using the space for your dog and storage. You can get the the long bed with the manual transmission in an Access cab. You can order it without the rear seating to save money and maximize space.

Only downside I can think of is the rear side windows do not open but sliding rear glass should be just fine. I'm sure double cab people will jump down my throat but it's just an idea.

SR5 trim is comfort oriented and should have everything you want.

Not my dog or truck but a great idea none the less. I really liked my Access cab but you're likely right about resale and crate room. Enjoy the new truck!

Go to kellybluebook.com and check the trade in value of your vehicle. You plug in the options you have and mileage and then can get a value range based on condition. When I traded in my FJ I looked at the condition above and below what I thought it was worth and then told the sales guy before handing over my keys that I checked the trade in value on KBB and had a good idea what they should be offering. He asked what I wanted and I gave him the high side. He came in just a bit under what I wanted. Fore warned is fore armed....

Is KellyBlueBook and KBB accurate in Canada ?

How about Edmunds or one of the other sites like that? They may have something for Canadian values?
