Are you reading? I am not cutting the wires on my brand new truck! This causes all kinds of problems down the road due to corrosion. You pay attention.

Carey, it's time to punch out. He just wants to be mad and expects us all to be mad with him. Not biting.

    Abandon thread.

I think you are correct. I feel for him, but he shouldn't have taken delivery of the truck if it wasn't as he ordered.

If you want a hitch on your Truck you are either going to have to wire in a harness. Or trade it in for a Truck with a Factory tow package. Your choice.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Reasons I opted for a tow package #1, and #2. The hitch was secondary and will likely be tossed when a new bumper goes on!

Yep. True. I just had to get that out of my system. Why would Toyota go to the extra expense to create two separate wiring harnesses? When the dealer can get the parts, I will expect them to install the tow option as it would have come from the factory. Seems extreme to have to replace 1/3 of the trucks wiring just so I can have trailer lights.

Unless the e trailer harness has come out in the last few days, this is not available on the 2016 yet.

So, they are going to install the Oil cooler, the power steering cooler, the upgraded alternator, install the 4/7 pin harness. The receiver hitch and the trailer sway control for you. At the cost it would have been if they gave you the truck you ordered. Sounds like a good deal.

Aparantly he ordered one with a tow package but didn't get a tow package so in theory either he already paid for the tow package because the dealership ordered it but the factory fucked up, or because of the mix up he didn't have to pay for it because the dealership never ordered it right

If the Dealer agrees to make it like a factory install, they are doing it at a loss. Not many dealers would agree to do that.

Yes, as least everything that is required for the SR manual transmission, which I think isn't that much. Tow limit is 3500 lbs. on the SR 4cyl. No transmission oil cooler. I doubt the alternator is different. Why would you need a power steering cooler.

I have a TRD Sport with the Tow package and part of the package is the power steering cooler. My guess would be so that the power steering pump doesn't overheat.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but why would the power steering have any more load towing a trailer?

When towing a load the engine works harder and by doing so creates more heat. By adding the power steering cooler it will help prevent any problems caused by the extra heat in the engine compartment. I believe the boiling point for power steering fluid is lower then some of the other fluids in the engine. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

If the dealer does the work it should be under warranty.

No. There is a wiring harness used on the 7513 Tacoma if configured with a hitch. It has a round plug behind the license plate that connects to the oval receptacle that mounts in the bumper. There is no splicing if it came from the factory with a hitch. Why would Toyota do that?
