Highly possible. It'll through my summer plans off a lot. But it's too good. Unless I get a gig in la I'll probably do that.

Yea. Sadly it's only 6 weeks. Not a full time gig. But still a good 6weeks

Monte what exactly do you do? Something with music?

 

Yea. Not just music though. Audio engineering. But currently, other then school, I work at the St. Louis symphony with the company that does the audio for them. We record them almost every week and a radio broadcast. We do a jazz club too whenever a client wants a recording. And location stuff.

But I really hope to stay in music. Even though that's slim chances. The music industry is just too bad right now to break into. Movie music would be my ultimate goal.

But there's tons of stuff in the audio world.

 

Blackdawg have you had to replace cv axle seals? I didn't see a link to it on the first page so I was wondering if you have one or know of a good write up of replacing cv axle seals

Are you asking about the rubber boots on the cv axles or front diff seals?

 

Sorry should've specified, I'm talking about diff seals.

 

I dont know of a write up but the seals themselves are fairly easy. Use a bearing puller or seal puller to get them out becuase they are a tight fit. Then find a socket big enough to fit the outer edge of the seal to hit it back in. Not much to it.

I have replaced the passenger side one. Twice. Once because it was leaking. And once because I put it in backwards

It's pretty straight forward though. Only tip Id say is to tap in the seal but not too far. Get it in there and then use the cv to push it where it needs to sit. Other wise it'll go too far in.

 

When I replace my axles, should I just figure on new seals at that time? Or just wait for a leak? 155K on the originals now.

 

I wouldn't worry unless it starts to leak. I'll be a slow leak too.

 

I believe the way we did it for the passenger side was put the seal on the CV first before we put it in. Helped bring the seal to the right depth without going too far.
