the '04s I looked at before getting my '05 seemed cramped. But at the time I was also looking at the F150s so that could have been a factor.

The only thing I tow are stuck 4x4s . And maybe a trailer with a YJ next year.

The '03 & '04 Tacomas were the last of the great Gen1 trucks, and some think they were the best of the Tacomas that have ever been offered! So, is the '04 you're going to look at a double cab? And is the deal they're willing to make with you on it, if it turns out to be the truck you really want, something you're willing to sign on the dotted line for? If it all adds up and makes good sense once all the cards are face up on the table, then go for it!!

the salesman said he wasnt exactly sure if its a double cab or an extra cab, but i will know by next week. and to be honest with ya....i can deal with either one of the cab configurations!! if the deal is gonna suit me,a nd the truck is in good shape.....the deal will be made, and i'll have my first gen tacoma!!! i will knwo by next week sometime. when he calls me and says its there.....i will be going for a test drive and looking the truck over really carefully.....this is a fact!!

And you are exactly right Tigerfan! As I noted, ALL Gen1 Tacomas were GREAT trucks, not just '03 & '04! Considering that Gen1 began in '95, the '02 is clearly in the graduating class that finished up the run on these highly prized vehicles!

went to another toyota dealer in my area today, about 25 miles away. very nice place, and helpful too. they didnt have any 4x4 04 tacomas.....just an o4 prerunner double cab and on 01 reg. cab 4x4(it was in rough looking shape). got to sit in the double cab.........seats are really comfortable, and roomy enough for my needs. they also put my name on the list as looking for an 03 or 04 4x4 tacoma.......may even get a call from them too. definitely doing my homework and gonna get the right truck!!

i also noted that the toolbox on my prerunner WILL NOT fit the bed on the double cab because of the fenderwell humps. so............anyone got any links to a box that will work on the double cab for an o4??? preferably black and low profile????
