A trooper in Maine (Lincoln) stopped me one night many moons ago and got me running a set of Cibie driving lights. There on the spot he told me if they were a legal 55w bulb he would let me go..... I opened the lights right there on Rt6. He looked at how I had filed off the tabs on a set of 100w bulbs and laughed. He had bet his partner a coffee that the bulbs were illegal. We all had a laugh and he had me take both bulbs out and crack them while they watched.....LOL.... He could have gouged me really bad. Sometimes you just have to remember they are just people like the rest of us.

Cops around here are a little less anal than the ones in Mass. You'll occasionally find one with a hair across their ass, but for the most part when I've been pulled over I've been polite and they've been pretty chill.

this has been an expensive morning. just ordered pelfrey bumper, rigid fogs, fender eliminator for the bike plus led signals, and brake reservoir relocator for the bike

Most LED lights I see on a bike are terrible. They put them right next to the brake light plus they are very dim so they are almost useless. Plus the fact they are blinking so damn fast because the bike is not set up for them.

    TINY bit....hehe

These are the same ones yamaha sells as accessories, just not branded yamaha so that saved me $40. lots of people get lazy about getting resistors or a relay for the led's, but that's cheap and easy. i have heard some people say the faster blinking is safer? i don't know

My 'fender eliminator' has always just been, fender, meet Dremel. I'll be curious to see how you like the Rigid fogs. Did you get the DOT approved set?
Agreed, I don't like the tiny LED blinkers, they're tough to see. Also, like Rebecca said, if installed correctly they shouldn't hyperblink. On the dirt bike, the previous owner put LED blinkers on the bike and they don't even have enough resistance to make the relay operate so they don't blink at all. I have a set of OEM take offs to take their place that will go on this winter.

No not true. If it was then the DOT would have all of our cars blink faster. The accepted amount is around 80 clicks per minute (CPM) although they do vary from car to car

I bet the tat was still up there, though I missed the bumper on your parts list. Wish I had a garage with space to work on my truck in the winter :(

I wouldn't necessarily agree that just because DOT hasn't made it standard that it's not safer (in general, not in regards to the hyperblink). Look at features races cars have to keep them safe for example, like the brake lights that blink initially when you brake, then go solid. I added that to the Katana and will add it to this bike also. It grabs the attention of someone following you, especially when you only have one small tail light.

the tat wasn't bad since i was only adding to it, but i think i have a total of $450 into it at this point

i'll probably go the relay rout since that's just plug and play, and will take care of all the flashers

Or 3rd brake lights for cars. You could buy and insstall them before they were mandated but technically it was illegal to do so.

Still looks like more than that. I have $300 into my crucifixion and I figure about $100 more to finish.

I do like those, like you said they grab your attention. They are also very noticeable in the 3rd brake lights of cars/trucks

I'll probably put one on the truck also since it's real easy to tap into the cap 3rd brake light. I do have other ideas for that cap that involve wiring so maybe I'll do it all at once.

Post back with how you like them. Did you get Duallys or D2s? I had amber D2 driving lights and was not impressed for the money. I replaced them with cheap, off brand driving lights and got the same result for less than 1/3 the cost. My other Rigid lights are a completely different story, I love those!
