Sorry just trolling. Toyota of america isn't any better. I am not going to tell my story here since there is already a thread i made where they took 2 weeks to fix a new truck and the parts guy said they would have the part in two days. Took two weeks

Yes I have. I opened a case with them yesterday. I was told it will take 7-10 business days before they begin to look into it. In the meantime I'm stuck in this stalemate with the dealership I guess.

Whatever... I need a truck for the spring. They can spend the next 2 months fixing this one or finding me another on - I don't care. But I WILL NOT put myself or my wife at risk by driving a vehicle with an obvious mechanical problem just to keep everyone at the dealership happy.

[IMG] If I do end up needing a truck, my 1985 M35A2 Deuce and a half will have to do.

Oh, don't worry, I do... just not in the winter. No salt for this thing. It has a Hercules multifuel engine and only 50k miles on the truck. Only surface rust in a few spots, nothing to worry about. This summer I'm going to convert it from 10 to 6 wheels, on much bigger rims and tires. New camo paint to. I just bought this thing in the fall, so it's got a ways to go. But, it's legal on the road, inspected and plated. M105 trailer too.

Service manager just called. He drove a blue TRD on the lot which I have not driven, and said it's stick moves a lot too. I told him he has 2 problems then. He still has not driven the silver TRD I am comparing mine to, and had no idea if my truck had even been on the hoist yet to check the motor/tranny mounts. As the "Service Manager" I find it hard to believe he does not know the answer to this question. I'm now waiting to hear the results of his drive in the truck I originally test drove, which he was supposed to have driven Monday morning before I got there, and which barely shakes at all on rough roads. We'll see what he has to say next.

Why don't you go down there and calmly review your vehicle and the others on the lot with this guy? Maybe even crawl under your truck and see what you see.

I already tried to do that on Monday. I'm not wasting another 2 hours of driving so I can come back with the same loaner and no answers.

Why is it so fucking hard to put the damn truck on a lift and check the rubber mounts!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'm not used to dealing with this level of incompetence.

What would you do if you drove the silver truck and noticed it had the same amount of movement. You might not have noticed it on the test drive.

I ruled that out by taking the same truck back out Monday morning. There is a HUGE difference between the two trucks. If there wasn't, I wouldn't be wasting all my time on this while I try to get what I paid for.

The 2016 manual 4x4 sport I test drove back in October, or so, sure did not move around 3 inches; and my current 1996 barely moves 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. In my opinion something seems wrong with yours.

Thanks to this thread I'm going to definitely test drive my truck (whenever it gets here) to see if it has this issue before signing anything.

My only real complaint on the 2016 manual is the clutch feels way to soft and car like compared to my current truck. More like the 2001 Rav4 we used to have. But I guess Toyota is trying to make it that way for the masses despite the fact it's a GD truck.

OP, look on the bright side, at least you have the option to buy a manual 4x4 AC TRD OR..... :canada:

Whoa now........I happen to like Florida Georgia Line :duel:I do agree though that 16 y/o's are dumb as dogshit today though. I'm not 16 though or even close to it. I'd like to see a video once you get it back. I've driven and owned plenty of manual cars but not a truck yet.

One person here mentioned that 4wd models have more play in them than 2wd models, are you sure that's not a possible cause?

The silver TRD Off Road I originally test drove, then test drove a second time after identifying the issue in mine, was the identical truck except for the colour. It was a 4wd access cab with just over 300km on it if I remember correctly. It's shifter barely moves... only vibrates really, where mine moves like 3" to each side of the in gear position. Clearly a bad mount. Too bad they won't bother lifting the truck up to check the mounts. It's easier to just bounce pass to Toronto so you can go back to fucking around on facebook or something.

I wonder if the new Tacoma uses the shifter design of the old trucks. The shift handle going into the top of tranny and at the very end inside there is a plastic shifter bushing on the end of the shift lever. A bad bushing there would make a very wiggly shifter but you would notice this as a loose shifter without the engine even being on. I had to replace this bushing on my 1989 Toyota 4x4. Now that was a great truck but I couldn't keep a head gasket in it. I like my 2016 much better tough.

haha OP you're a walking contradiction. buy/drive a deuce and a half. hire a lawyer to deal with Toyota dealership before grabbing a wrench and climbing under your truck.

Good luck getting a solution though.
