Im planning on calling the dealership today to get an appointment to get the cat pipe replaced under the recall. I seriously doubt it actually needs it considering the truck only has 14k on the clock, but I'd rather do it now when it's free under the recall. My question is, I'm only 16. The truck is officially my moms (i inherited it when her father passed) I will need a loaner vehicle while they are replacing it. Because I plan to drop the truck off and leave it to come pick it up the next day (or whenever it is done) my mom is driving our only extra vehicle because her suburban is in the shop as well. Will Jeff Whyler be able to loan me another Tacoma? I use my truck for its purpose daily. Meaning I can't have anything but a truck for even just a day. And if they can't because of my age could they loan it to my mom and I have the ability to drive it? Any input will be much appreciated.

I doubt they would give out a loaner to your mom and you are too young to get one most likely no loaner will be offered.

I just called the dealership. And they say that they aren't offering them unless there is a "special situation" that would make it viable. I'm pretty much gonna tell them that I have to go to school at 7am and then starting at 3 pm this time of year I'm hauling my spring cleanup setup for my lawn business until around 6 at night. I want to drop it off on Saturday because I have now way to get it down there on a weekday. And no extra vehicle to drive while it's getting the work done

I am fifty years old and the number of times in my entire life I have gotten a free loaner is zero.

I am going to call them again later tonight and explain my situation to the service advisor. If they still won't give in I will contact another dealer. And if no dealer will loan me a truck. I will probably just cut out the cats and weld in pipe.

Some places will drive you to school/work instead of giving a loaner. Worth asking.

My dad (63) had a transfer case eat itself in his Silverado 2500. He got a 2015 k1500 as a loaner from the local Chevy dealer. Toyota must just be more protective of their vehicles than Chevy.

My experiences with it were based on miles. I think the dealers had a 20-25 mile maximum. County shouldnt matter.... but should/could/would need not apply with reality.

Called all of my local dealerships. Only One dealership is making an attempt to loan me a truck, that being Oxmoor Toyota on Shelbyville Road. I was sad to hear that they will be getting it from the enterprise as opposed to one of their lot trucks. Kind of wanted to drive a 2016, but I'm desperate at this point. I will be setting up an appointment soon to get the inspection done and the cat replaced for free with a free loaner truck. :bananadance:

You have to be 25 to enter into a car rental contract with Enterprise or any rental company. Technically its 21 but if under 25 way expensive and limited selection. You ain't getting no free rental. You will also have to have a major credit card to get the Enterprise vehicle.

If by some miracle you are given an Enterprise car, take the walk around inspection seriously. Whatever is not listed at time of car receipt you will be charged for such as rock chips, scratches, dents, etc.

All the stealership is going to do is give you a ride over to Enterprise and drop you off, you will be on your own from there.

Did you really think they would let you put miles on a new truck off their lot? Would you want to spend tens of thousands on a truck that they allowed a 16 driver to drive by himself? I wouldn't...

Many dealerships have designated vehicles that are loanars and then sell as a certified pre owned. I told the service manager that I am infact 16 and she said that because the rental agreement will be out to oxmoor Toyota There will be no problems in regard to age

Insurance wise they won't give you a loaner vehicle. Even if you have your own insurance with you as the primary policy holder.

Sadly, the lady I spoke to heard me wrong the first time. The rental truck is not going to work as to the way we originally thought. Even going through a filter as if it was an "act of God" that caused need for the rental. (which was the backup plan) we went to get my moms DD from the mechanic and I will now have our 02 Cadillac DHS to drive while my truck is at the stealership. Not how I would have liked it to work out, but that's the price I must pay for driving a new truck in this day in age.

I had my cat replaced under the recall and it took under an hour. Miss your first couple of classes and tell them that you will wait.

I'm just gonna drop it off the weekend before the week of the replacement and pick it up when it's finished, drive the car in the meantime. The dealership I'm gettin. It done at is 30 miles away and it's honestly not worth it to miss classes over my truck (and I'd be on my girls shit list for like a month, because I take her to school every morning.)

It only takes an hour to replace. Why don't you just wait for it.

The dealer isn't going to give you a free loaner because it isn't an over night fix. Plus you are only 16 years old, I wouldn't loan you a car or truck either. Just like a car rental will not rent you one.

Don't cut the Cat out and install a pipe. That is stupid.
