Do it! I'm in for a group buy.
Regardless of a group buy or not though I'd rather spend the little bit extra money on the Ironman 4x4 case and get a proper fitting case than one that sort of fits.

I think the Ironman one is a bit cheaper, per Amazon. [I quoted the wrong product here]

But I have read plenty of reviews of the Waeco one that fits like a glove. I also would rather not have a black cover personally and one that is better insulated.

We shall see, that's why I ordered this one so quick: take one for the team, and see if it's any different.

Edit: I was referring to the Smittybuilt one instead of the Ironman cover, sorry

Has anyone used or looked into this:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A3TZL9V2W4M5E1
    http://newportvessels.com/newport-vessels-smart-battery-box/

Similar to the Minnkota trolling power center, but its larger, has USB port, and better looking. Some reviews on their main website too. Looks like it was just released a couple months ago. Looks like it'll fit a group 31 battery too, the Minnkota fits at most a 27 from what ive read.

Im looking more into mobile batterys since I also have a motovan i take to the track, it'll be easier to move around between vehicles instead of a hard wire

    Here's my power supply:

It's a $9 WalMart battery box with a pair of outlets, a voltmeter and some fuses added. The back side has an 80 A fuse and Anderson power pole connectors to plug into the welding cable I ran back to the shell. It also has connectors to attach an AC charger and my solar panel. So, three ways to charge the group 31 battery.

    Social Democracy, that's why. :smack:

My mounting plate didn't come in a separate box BUT I think it came already mounted to the bottom of my TF-51 (?). I've seen pictures of the bottoms of the coolers on Equipt1 & the Indel-B company websites & they are just the plastic bottom with a few reinforced holes for the mounting bracket to screw into. Their pix don't look at all like what I have. Mine is a battleship grey 1mm thick steel plate with some pre-drilled holes in the corners. :notsure:
The hardware is great! did you scavenge those off an Igloo cooler of get them as extra/replacements from Igloo? :jellydance:

That plug is so much more useful than the single Blue Ocean socket I ordered. Where did you get that?? :jellydance:

For those that ordered the Smittybilt transport case, what are all the 8 various straps for, esp the ones w/o clips on the ends?

I like the looks of that. If you end up ordering it let me know what the dimensions are.

    Amazon says

6 x 16 x 12 inches but in not sure how accurate that is.

I called them up and they said they would do a group buy if I could get 10 or more. They would need to figure out the amount of people and price. Anyone else interested?

    the website has actual dimensions. 17" X 12" X 10"

Hmm. Might be too wide to fit underneath my sleeping platform. Battery barrely fits as is. I'll have to take some measurements when I get home from work.

Just asking but why not the Minn Kota? It has tons of great reviews & I could not find any on the Neport.
Not trying to crap on the group buy...

Is that big enough for a group 31 AGM battery? I still need to figure out what way I'm going on the dual battery question, under hood, battery box, Ark, &c. but this looks like a decent option.

Minnkota can't fit a group 31? Plus the Newport is the bigger and better! :p

Just talked to Metal Tech. The guy sounded very interested! He will talk to everyone on Monday during their meeting and get back to me with the answer.

@.45 JHP if you could get all the info for me on how many of each model were ordered so I can let them know.

    Hoping this goes through!

That......might be a little hard to get. I'd estimate at least 50 of the 50L and a handful of smaller units
