Glad to see this is an addition to the vending machines on campus. I normally opt for something sugary but this hit the spot for a quit snack before hitting the gym

Tweaked my lower back from squatting a few weeks back so I took a break from them. Tried to squat again last night and it didn't go well. The pain is still there. It starts when I hit the bottom of the movement, like a sharp pain in my lower left back. No squats for me for a while :(

What is this "shaving" you guys are talking about?

Does it go down your left leg?

No just strictly my lower left back area. I can still do leg presses and other leg exercises. It just hurts to bend over. So basically I can't squat, deadlift, bent over rows etc.

Haha, I would alternate between the two if I could. I have a strong chiseled jaw so shaving doesn't make me look 18. If I had a beard I would probably look 40.

I hurt mine on deads a few years ago and now anytime my form gets somewhat shitty, I know to bail...it was kind of a blessing, although I wasn't able to deadlift for like 6 months. My lower back still gets really tight if I stand for long periods of time, but it's healthy enough to max out once a month or so

Mine started a few years back while I was using this
    [IMG]
It's one of those seated leg press where you push yourself off the foot platform instead of pushing the weight up. I adjusted the seat too close to the platform to where my knees were really close to my head at the starting position. My lower back started to curve in during one of the sets and I heard a pop in my lower left back. Pain was so excruciating I could barely walk for a few days.

After I recovered from that, I injured it again doing deadlifts. That's why I don't really deadlift anymore. Then once again the same spot, I hurt it again squatting a few weeks ago. When I recover from this I'm not gonna squat heavy anymore. Just not worth it...

I would bet my last dollar is a herniated disc probably between L4-L5. Most of the time it will fix itself, otherwise it's a surgical procedure to fix. Then you get to meet someone such as myself haha

Damn. The last time mine acted up, I'm pretty sure it was my sciatic nerve. It had been tight for a few days so I skipped squats and did leg press instead. All of a sudden my left leg basically went numb. Tried to stand up off the leg press and fell on my face.

My jaw line isn't awful, I just look too baby faced clean shaven. I could probably pass as 12 years old if I shaved totally clean. I've AT LEAST had a goatee since my junior year of high school, so....2003-2004.

I've got a baby face too. Takes 10 years off when I shave at least. I hate it. Luckily I work from home so I never shave unless my wife calls me out on it.

The plus side is when the fair comes to town we can shave and go hustle the game where they try and guess our age and load up on all he giant stuffed animals we want

I'm hoping it fixes itself. So far when I take it easy for a few months the pain eventually goes away.

Lol, I use it for calf raises too. The other day I got a nasty ass look from someone. I raised my eyebrows (kinda asking what that was for). They told me that the machine isn't designed for that exercise and I was taking it away from people that wanted to do leg presses. I told them I don't use it for leg presses and to consider it my time on the machine. It ended with another dirty look and them walking away.

Unfortunately my gym doesn't have the nice leg press machine where its more of an incline and you load the plates on from the side so I'm stuck with this machine. I still only use it for calves. I've tried pressing on it but it really does make me feel like I'm about to give birth and since that's not possible I avoid it in case I shit myself instead...

If you really want to destroy your calves on it, put the pin in the max weight and put your legs at full extension with only your toes (I slide my feet down so everything below the ball of my foot is hanging off) and just hold. Its like a wall sit for your calf muscle. Do it for a min and then slightly bend your knees and hold for another minute. Do a couple sets and you'll stand up and be walking like

this would have been better if you started leg pressing on the calf machine afterwards
