I would likely have to trim quite a bit more too. My tires are listed as 32.8" tall to being with, your MTRs are listed at 33.1 so the jump to a 33.4" tire that is 1.5" wider than I have now would probably cause all sorts of issues.

Yep, I found a lead on some 285 75 16 ST Maxx at a good price. If I can't find the 255s at a better price I will make the jump. I actually found that the ST Maxx in 285 is taller than the 255 by a tiny bit. Usually it is the other way around.

Not too many updates truck wise. I got a new set of tires (285 75 16 cooper st maxx) so I could move the ones on the truck over to our trailer project which has been resurrected and is finally rolling on two wheels. 255s are getting so hard to find and so expensive that I have kind of given up on them as a logical tire choice. I like the size but availability is much better with the 285s. The 285s are a hair taller even mounted and the width is hardly noticeable. I rub my mud flaps a little now under full stuff but thats about it.

My son and I went out this weekend to play in the snow a little on some foothill trails between errands. It was a blast and he had a good time. Caught one picture of his cheesy smile while we were letting some air out of the tires.

I was just in Centerville. There isn't much there and the roads are surrounded by private land but there is a small portion that is open to the public.

Yep, my truck is MGM. If I had white or black I would have gone with the bronze but for MGM I think that black or gunmetal are the best choices. 16" is the more practical choice in my opinion but 17" wheels look really good.

Question about your F5 / 255 setup since that's what I'm wanting: Do you still enjoy the 3.5 back space? Notice any extra kicked up rocks/scratches on truck or extra dirt from the extra width? Also I've read trying to keep back space/offset as close to stock as possible to save bearings and what not- is the 3.5" BS going to wear these down quickly? Basically deciding between the 4.5 and 3.5 back space

Edit * well failed to see your latest post about the 285 tires.. would you recommend these instead of the 255 based on your experiences?

More sidewall on the tires to protect the wheels, tires for 16" wheels are usually a bit cheaper, the wheels themselves are cheaper, and I've read of a few cases where some 17" wheels have clearance issues is certain suspension/tire combos with spindle gussets or other parts. The clearance thing is pretty rare and most don't have to worry about it.

I would also guess that 16" tires possibly have a bigger selection than 17" tires just a guess though.

I got the 3.5BS because I am going to do a shock relocation in the rear and wanted maximum clearance between the shocks and the tire. If it weren't for that I would have done the 4.5BS. The 3.5BS look great and the wider stance is nice for stability but I hate how hard it is to keep the truck clean and they also will rub more than the 4.5BS in most cases due to the geometry they create.

Even with mud flaps the tires still stick outside the the flaps and shoot debris onto the truck. Probably not a ton more than the 4.5BS but there is some. I am coming from stock wheels that had like 5.25" BS so 3.5 is a big difference.

With any wheel other than stock, or even stock wheels with bigger tires your wheel bearings will wear out quicker. I replaced both of mine recently cause one was getting bad. That is after about 50k of bigger tires on stock wheels. Time will tell how fast they wear out with the 3.5BS wheels.

I thought my wheel bearings were going out, turned out it was my needle bearing. Mine look brand new at 60k with being on 3.5bs and 33/35 for 50k, to make you feel better. Im sure it adds stress but having good a good seal is probably the bigger issue, keeping out the bad stuff

    See my build thread!
Rigs looking nice Zach! I like the 285's on there.

So you decided to finish the trailer? I was tempted to buy that off you when you had it on KSL, but decided to wait a bit before jumping into another project.
