    Ladies and Gents,

I would like to introduce myself after searching your website for sometime. My name is Charlie and I currently reside in eastern Florida and am in my last semester of college. Upon graduating I will be replanting my career in the State of Washington and I cant wait. It appears that everyone here is a bunch of great informative individuals that have a great passion for their trucks. I am a current owner of a 2004 1500 quad-cab 4x4 Dodge Ram and am quite sick of the repetitive issues that I have with the truck. From the 7-8 mpg (it keeps getting worse) to the interior defective pieces that continually break. I haven't had any major mechanical issues but the many unusual replacement parts are adding up at an alarming rate. The dash board has cracked for the second time, I am currently on my 4th drivers side oh $h!t handle, and now I have to replace the sun visors, drivers seat cushions and fabric, and now the center arm rest because they appear to have worn out. I respect my truck completely and never seem to make it ahead with it. I feel that the Tacoma would be a great replacement for my needs. I do want the double cab, 4x4, and long wheel base. I have also determined that I would like the solid white color. I have a bunch of great first ideas and have been out looking at the different options. The Tacoma will tow anything I need and carry what I need. I didnt realize it was possible but I outgrown my full size pickup..... Or should I say under grown :woot:

I look forward to making this my new online truck forum home...

Awesome! Glad to have you aboard! We can point you into the right direction. If you have any questions feel free to ask them, we don't bite.

Welcome! Man, that's quite a list of problems. I thought my '00 Focus SE had problems!

Well get out there and test drive a Taco. I couldn't walk away after I did that. The only hard part was haggling with the dealer, and I won :D

You know its amazing this search <button> On my old Dodge Forum there was no search feature. I guess the <search> button was never part of the website and was quite a pain, so like my current truck good riddance.

1 more reason why Tacomas and TacomaWorld are better!! :D

This is an awesome site. The mods here are fantastic and they are always updating and upgrading stuff on here.

What are the plans for your new truck? (whenever that maybe be--soon hopefully)

My parents got my truck at a off-Brand dealership... Privately owned. We got a better price because we knew them and it wasn't a Yota dealership. I would try those first. You can find alot of nice trucks in the off-brand dealerships.

Welcome to TW! My '04 Dodge sucked ass. I had the same issues with the interior, but with the added excitement of some mechanical issues too. Like a briken axle, exhaustmanifold, random injectors going out....Sweet stuff! :)

I have seen many sweet trucks with 2-3 inch lifts and tire/wheel combos. I like the look of the white trucks and black rims. So lift and tire combo will be my first plan.....Oh and tint. It is quiet amazing what these trucks come with. Its almost to the point where one doesn't really need to buy anything for them at first. Of course thats only a temporary feeling... <Tee Hee> I cant wait!

Take a look at my Gallery (in the Tacoma Photos and type in my member name) if you wish. I have a 3" lift with 33" Toyo Open Country ATs (soon to have Long Travel).

I have 32% tint in the front and 8% in the rear windows and back windows with a 6" 8% Windshield banner.

Yes if you get a Tacoma with the Privacy glass, its really dark. I was surprised, but you get used to it very quickly.

    Charlie,
First off, congrats on finishing college.
Second, why Washington state? Haha. Just Kidding. Just seems like a drastic move from FL.
Third, greetings from San Diego and welcome to Tacoma World. Just a little something you should know about us members... we are visual people. You should take a pic of your Dodge and show us the inside. A before and after pic if you will (after being when you get your Tacoma). Take care and good luck with the move.

    Welcome!!

I owned an 04 Quad Cab for about 3 years before I bought my tacoma. Actually, I've owned another tacoma before the Dodge. My Dodge was still under warrantee and I was at the dealerships about 6X trying to disagnose why my 'service 4WD' light kept coming on and wouldn't allow me to engage 4WD. It also had a leak in the steering line. The overall size of the thing was HUGE.

You'll like the smaller size...you can get around in parking lots & such much better.

Its quite a long story but I will be continuing my law enforcement career in Washington and after visiting twice on vacation I instantly fell in love with it. Call it a new start to my life i guess and leaving a lot of bad memories here in Florida. Oh and also since I spent 29 years of my whole life here in Florida I want a change :D

Here are some pics of my Dodge and some of the repetitive problems:
