What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I know I didn't grind the plate but it seems like I remember there being some issue. I'm pretty sure I got it to bolt up tho. Maybe the bolts are not exactly vertical to get it to work. The hole is slightly slotted so maybe that helped too.

Grinding would probably be the best solution though. The plate should come with a recess for the washers.

 

Thanks guys. I installed the AP plate and ubolts first too. But then had trouble getting the timbren plate all the way down. It is as if torquing down the ubolts pulled them inwards towards themselves enough so the timbren plate would not fit in between the nuts. Kinda weird actually.

I stopped messin with it and have been riding around without bumps until I can figure out what I want to do. It looks like I will have to grind indents on the timbren plate so it will clear the ubolt nuts.

 

How much distance do you have between the tire and shock body? Whats your wheel and tire setup as wheel?

They are pretty straight forward. I'd suggest a dremel with a cutting wheel to get at the welds, then a air chisel worked great for me. The ones that need the spot welds drilled out I thought were a PIA.

 

The 3.4 is a non interference engine right?

Where did you get the Hex key plugs and are they all the same size and length?

Mocking up/ measuring sliders. Going to clean and paint em up tomorrow so they're ready to get welded up next weekend. Seeing how Snug Ill be able to get them to the panel

 

Would I need aftermarket UCAs if I added another 3/4" to the front? Even though it's a spacer.

 

They are from Low Range and yes they are all the same length. I doubled the crush washer on the transfer case but they all seemed to clear the internals even without that. Aluminum washers for transfer case and steel washers for rear diff.

I remember now. If you loosen the u bolts then there is enough slop for the bolts and washers to move over and make room for the timbren plate to sit in between them.
