3+1 OR leaf pack worth the trouble?

I got a line on some 2015 OR 3+1 leaf spring takeoffs (@ 15k) that I plan to pick up tomorrow. Member on here selling the set reasonably. I have never had an issue with my 2+1 leafs, I don't haul a lot of stuff, and don't have a shell or any armor additions. My truck drives great, no issues as stated...I just figured the 3+1 leaf springs would be better, since most every other Tacoma has those, and they are putting them on OR editions since 2014...any thoughts yea or nay?

They gotta be better than your 2+1 leafs. For the "right" price, I'd do it...

I did exactly that a few months ago when one of my Icon AALs on the original springs (2+1) broke a clamp and I had to tear back into it anyway. Cheap upgrade.

My .02 - look at all the "vibration issue" threads there are around here. You said your truck rides great. No issues and you intend to continue driving it the same way. You swap springs and pick up vibration issues you then either have to swap back (you kept those junkers just in case, right?), or chase and resolve those issues, or put up with your new vibes for presumably "better" springs. You will be kicking yourself. Here's an idea, if you can get them cheap and can conveniently store them - buy 'em and hope to never have to use 'em. Good luck.

If you don't haul or tow keep the 2+1pack they ride smoother on the highway. I don't know if the road in NM are built with expansion joints. Up north they are, 3+1 packs are a lot stiffer.

If it was cheap I would do it.

Since your're in there might as well throw on a progressive 1.5" AAL at the same time, and of course a 2" front lift. Then some 265/75/R16s or 265/70/R17s. And that escalated quickly. :)

Which is strange, because the Sport suspension, 3 + 1, is supposed to have a better ride on the street...

My 2015 Sport leafs were doing the reverse C within 6 months. Added a 1.5 Progressive ICON AAL to it, much better.

I would seriously consider upgrading to the 3+1 pack. Got mine free from Toyota (spring TSB). Springs were replaced at 8500 miles. Added about 1/2 inch height, ride about the same, and axle wrap not as severe as with 2+1 pack. All in all, worked out great for me.

I would buy the new pack, add a Chevy leaf to the pack & never look back.

I plan to pick them up tomorrow. I'll be helping out a fellow TW owner, and I can't really see a downside. Better springs than what I have now anyway; if they don't work out I'll just go back to my current setup, only loss will have been the purchase price and my own labor; or it may push me over the edge toward a new suspension. I haven't been willing to go that far just yet. One small step for man...

    Both packs are crappy springs

Before you put the new ones on, spray between the leaf packs with fluid film, your your favorite lube to preemptively prevent squeaking.

I got a set of 3+1's with my frame swap. They replaced a set of 10 year old 2+1's. I gained no extra height from them.
