    I have a 1998 Sr5 v6 with axle code B06A 3.90 gear in rear end it has spun a pinion and I was wondering if a rear end out of a tacoma or 4runner auto would interchange because I wouldn't mind having better gear because of driving interstate alot what are your opinions and what are my options

    Of course another taco alxle will work, that goes for a runner aswell! Just be sure if youre 4x4 to get the same ratio!
    I would say you have a pretty damn good ratio at 3.90 for interstate driving...

    I went and bought a rear end of of a 98 sr5 4runner v6 and they arent the same my diff is a 14mm bolt carrier the 4runner is 12mm bolt carrier

    As long as the ratio is the same, everything should be fine...

    The runner axle wasnt from a 2wd by chance was it? I dunno if they were different but it a possibility.
    Another thing, was your original a 8" with e locker, or an non e lock 8.4"? Wouldnt matter but just curious.

    Mine is a 8.4 non locker and yes this runner was 4x4 But this diff has like a 5/16th and mine is 3/8 bolts bolt on the housing

    Hu, im suprised the bolt size is different. Shouldn't be anything to worry about though...

    Arent they nuts on studs that are in the housing? PO could have replaced rusted out ones, or had been into the diff before and used new nuts that were a different size possibly...idk...

    I was under the impression that the 4runner and 8.4 taco diffs are NOT interchangeable.

    I was under the impression the op was doing a full axle swap, not swapping 3rds.

    I apologize OP if you were just swapping 3rds and not the whole rear-end.

    Ah shit, i didnt even think about that!

    OP i really fucked this one up, im sorry! Yeah with it being coil sprung it was a no go! I understand now why you were inquiring about the different bilt size, because you were infact swapping 3rds due to the whole axle not being interchangeable because of it being coil sprung. ....
