Okay, so I have a 2013 taco with dealer installed alarm from Car (or Kar) and have not been able to find any info anywhere on how to do this. My truck originally required 2 presses of the unlock button until I had it about 3 weeks then all of a sudden it only took 1. Now after 2 1/2 years it stopped working and I've been searching everywhere to try and set it back.

****For my truck with this Car alarm***
    1. get in the truck
    2. I left the door open
    3. insert key into the ignition and turn to on
    4. with in 5 seconds press the unlock button on the door 3 times

You should hear the horn honk to signal the change, turned the key off, closed door hit lock - all doors lock, hit unlock (1 time!!) and all doors unlocked.

For anyone that says this is risky cause someone could jump in the side door, you're right my fiance gets in everyday before we go work out and this was really pissing her off!!367.jpg

LOL. If that little thing was pissing her off she should be a hoot after you have been married 10 years.

I'd like to report this is an over-exaggeration, but the look I get when I'm in and she is locked out says otherwise.

    Thanks @devkurf

I did this 2 days ago, worked just like you said. Small thing but makes a big difference!

Going to assume you don't have the OEM KARR alarm on your truck - because this is a program function of that alarm, if you don't have it, it won't work for you.

KARR alarm was an optional accessory, so if you didn't order it you won't have it.

For someone who bought the truck used....what am I looking at to see if I have the alarm? I don't feel like breaking into the truck to see if it goes off.

When you lock the truck at night is there a blue LED that flashes somewhere in the cab?

If not - you don't have it.

Nope. Darn. My dad has the exact tacoma as I do, and he has the blue light flashing by his mirror.

That's an odd place for the LED.

It's not particularly small.. I can take a pic of mine in a few minutes and post it here. I wouldn't think it'd ever be mounted by a mirror, though.

Here is the LED module for the KARR alarm.

I'm wondering if it won't be in this exact spot on every installation.

Fun fact: every Toyota is prewired for KARR, but the alarm isn't enabled until you pay for that option.

That's the driver side, bottom of the lower dash. TPMS button is above the module and is located to the right of the hood release - almost centered with the steering column.

The unlock function is also adjustable using Techstream, for those without the alarm.

The OP is right, this is a bad tactical option. Dont be too lazy to push the button twice.

I'm pretty sure that whole "only unlock your driver door for safety in case you're being chased by somebody" is some BS that dealers started spewing to sell cars to women.
