No clue. I dropped off the loaner, grabbed my key from the kid at the counter, and walked out. There's no point beating a dead horse. "Customer Service" is a foreign concept to this dealership, and I'm tired of wasting my time.

I'll pick this back up with a different dealership, see what's in the file, and I'll have my mechanic go over the truck. At the end of the day, it's still a Toyota, not some POS domestic, so I'm not too worried. I just need to make sure whatever was causing the movement is fixed properly, and move on.

Really looking forward to seeing what this thing can do off road once we figure out the tires/bumpers/skid plates etc we need to add.

Well.. it's your average NB road - tar and chip with lots of patches on it. The next video will show the road real clear.

Too bad you don't have a video before the dealer worked on it.

Hard to imagine how it could be worse than what it is doing now.

Yea, I was thinking that too. But honestly, I don't typically look at my shifter when I'm driving to see how much it moves. The only time I could see it moving 3 inches would be under severe axle wrap maybe.

Ya.. I'm kicking myself for a lot of things on this mess, believe me. This is what I get for getting lazy, and thinking nothing can go wrong cause it's Toyota! :frusty:

Could be worse, though... the brake pedals are falling OFF the new Sierras FFS!

That makes two of us. It's snowing hard out here right now, but once the weather clears I'll be doing a LOT MORE driving in this thing and I'll get film on different road conditions at different speeds. I'm still waiting on more parts for my GoPro too.. right now I have to run it on batteries, and WOW.. does it ever chew through those in a hurry!

Hmmm. That is far more shake than I get on my old '99 MT. Apples to kumquats, but still. I get less of a shake hopping over big semi-rounded speed bumps at like 15-20 mph. Which is super jarring and looks silly when I do it. But, I can't even hold a camera straight doing that and yet the shifter barely shakes.

If I hit some of the rougher patches around here it might move about like that, but over normal bumps and stuff it doesn't move around too much. When I say rough patches ... I am pretty sure SE Michigan has the worst roads in all of America, so these are pretty bad patches lol ...

Used to live across from Detroit, and spent tons of time over there, so I know what kinda "roads" you're talking about. There's no potholes in this road, never mind the car sinking ones on the I-95 LOL. This is your standard NB country road. We can blast across it at 120km/h in a Honda Civic (if it's not moose o'clock) if that gives you any idea of it's quality. There's a couple of dips to slow down for, but the rest is pretty good, especially for this time of year. Light winter thanks to the El Nino.

Thanks for the opinion, I need as many as I can get right now. Being my first Toyota, and my first standard 4WD truck (2002 Dodge Dakota automatic and 1985 M35A2 don't count) I have nothing to base my concerns on, other than comparing to all the FWD standard cars I've owned/driven. Glad I found this forum.

Snowing like a bastard here now and my satellite internet keeps blinking out. Might be a while on the next vid upload. It's been at 92% for a while now.

OP I can tell you with certainty that your stick movement looks normal ... if driving 70 mph on TRAIN TRACKS .... wow.

I have only driven one manual 2016 and it was nothing like that, but it was only from the dealership onto the interstate and back.

I guess your video will show the road, but sections of highways in south Louisiana that are heavily oil patched may bounce as bad as that. Hopefully someone can concur with you that the movement is normal.

Success! I finally got the second video uploaded. It took longer than expected cause some dumbass (me) picked the wrong video, and ended up with a second copy of the shifter video online instead :-S

Anyway, here's the video from the windshield. I turned around at the end of the road on the first video, moved the GoPro to the windshield, and drove back to where I started while trying to keep the speed around 80km/h. Here's the link...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddjpeQRjK6Q

Oh ya.. both videos were shot in 2wd, in case anyone was wondering.

OP, I have the exact same truck (4000km on the clock). I've not seen my shifter move that much at any speed, on any road surface.. mind you, I've not been wheeling with it yet!
