    Here is a shot from the top. I have 5 inches between the frame and the tire. The shock leans forward about 22 degrees so it is not really between the peak of the tire and the frame at full compression. Also 1.25" spacers are required.

    Went and got an alignment today for the OME lift. I was expecting 2.5" of lift but got 4" in the front and 6" in the back... we'll see how much it settleso_O

    What's the deal with the Hex key drain plugs? I never liked them... They're easier to strip than a plain old bolt.

    This is my take :

    I put some of these on my crawler years ago. The issue being addressed was that the stock, low-hanging 6-point DRAIN plug would get badly deformed by dragging over rocks. Then you would need a hammer & chisel and a prayer to get it off. The hex-heads were still somewhat vulnerable to that, but not as much. I always carried a hex-head bit of the exact size. Worked well for me.

    EDIT: Another advantage is that the hex-head are round on the outside, rather than hexagonal. Occasionally rocks would catch on the points just right, and start backing off. One one Rubicon trip I was on, the truck in front of me had the drain plug completely back out, drop on the ground, and drain the oil completely out.

    Those that don't bounce over rocks on a regular basis, really don't need these.

    I mostly did it to have the same bolt style all around but the hex keys are also lower profile and less likely to snag I think. I can't see stripping out these 10mm hex keys.

    I did not see your edit before. The ubolt nuts that AP sent me are different from what you have there. Mine are flanged and without washers.


    I have a couple of issues with this. First, since they have already been torqued and stretched, I do not want to loosen them now and have to retorque them again later. Also, as @Silver02Taco mentioned earlier, it looks like its impossible to get a socket on them when the timbren bump is in place. How did you retorque yours without a socket?

    Need? No. Want? Maybe.

    IMO, the primary reason for an aftermarket UCA is to add some caster (typically 2*) and to add range of travel and overall strength. Any time you lift the IFS front end, you loose caster adjustability. Low caster will not cause tire wear but it will affect driveability. This shows up in how the truck steers over uneven road surfaces and how it is effected by side winds.

    You have OME coils and shocks right? So no extended travel. How does it drive now? Is the steering light? Is it twitchy at highway speeds?

    @Digiratus I guess grinding the plate is the best option then. I hadn't torqued them yet or done any alignment checks so I didn't mind dropping the u-bolt plate again.

    I have the 8.5 i think a 10" is way too much. Running dakar leafs out back. I think im at like 16 compressed 24 or 25 droop. Seems pretty ideal for that amount of lift. Are you going to relocate the shock mounts?
