It must be different up here in canada, cause they do redtag days and offer incentives up to $4000 on tacomas, and $6000 on tundras.
I could have gotten a 15 tundra o/r for less than my tacoma with the dealer invoice price offer and 6000$ off in incentives from toyota. But none the less i love tacomas.

Die??? I was just hoping my 2004 would have a single mechanical issue to give me an excuse! (Hint, it didn't). I have absolutely no doubt that truck would have outlasted me.

The Toyota near my house said that it looks like Toyota is getting rid of the V8 on their Tundras. They will get the same 3.5L but with a turbo. so I think a V8 tacoma is a no go if that happens.

Thats sounds asinine, no way Toyota will do that for the powertrain on the Tundra, not conservative at all and would kill Tundra numbers.

Is it just me...or does OP sound like a Dodge marketing rep looking for info to bash the tacoma with for his next online review of "2016 Trucks - Good, Bad, & the Laramie."

Yeah, my Corolla was an '04. I had a water pump go out at 65K, and that's it other than batteries and tires.

Nah, it doesn't have the offroad abilities of the Tacoma. I'm not a big offroader anyway, but with that really low front end spoiler the Colorado has it's not much better than a crossover SUV in offroading. Plus it's resale value isn't proven, and chances are it will be not be great.
I don't keep vehicles very long, sometimes as little as 1 year, but have never kept a vehicle more than 3 years, so I don't want to take a huge beating in bad resale.

Just passing along what the lead tech from the Toyota dealership said. I think it sounds retarded as well.

No worries dude. It amazes me though the lack of knowledge from salesman to maintenance techs in regards to their products, repair, etc. If I took such little interest and talked out my ass at my job/career planes would crash, id be in jail, etc. I don't love my job but I still strive to be more than proficient and knowledgable in regards to work, I wish more people would be like that, seems to be society though in general. Cue the soap box old man rant.

I can see Toyota offering a Turbo 3.5l in the Tundra. But can't see them not selling any V8's.
A turbo Tacoma would be awesome as well.

Toyota will not turbo a model like the tacoma or tundra, I'll wager my bikes and truck on it. This isn't Ford guys.

Which is weird. This is the year 2017 coming up, other manufacturers innovating. I still think that ass-kicking 9.2 earthquake in 2011 set Toyota back quite a bit.

    tonneau,
Just traded my Black 15 Tacoma for a 16 DCLBS in inferno. I enjoyed the 2 hr ride home from the dealers. Truck has plenty of power but a lot of cool electronics, a lot of stuff I will never use.

I had a 2010 Ram HD 2500 Cummins crew cab, very nice truck but going from a tacoma to that wasn't something I enjoyed and I only needed it for an occasional camper trailer haul. After the camper was sold, the Ram was also. Now driving 2016 DCORSB that is so far great. I am not completely used to the 3.5L yet. I had a 2011 for 5 years before this tacoma. Didn't realize how much I had gotten used to the 2011. It was a wonderful truck and so far the 2016 is looking to be the same. I really like the upgrades, Entune and interior changes. I have had a few issues with the Entune working properly with my iPhone 6S+. Text messages don't come over completely to the truck to read. I usually get a message on screen that a test has arrived but that is were the messaging info stops, it doesn't read the message and sometimes my contact from my phone are not available on the screen. Don't care for Sirrius XM as they are huge PIA with RE: cost and billing. I like the programming but not enough to pay even $10 a month or more. My truck was about 1 quart low or a little more in the auto transmission when I got it. I did a check and added about 1.5 quarts of Toyota WS ATF and after the warm up/temp check mode was in range I got about 8-12 oz of fluid back out. I don't have any exact evidence but swear my transmission is operating much better now. Interstate driving will still shift between 5th and 6th on a hill but much smoother. Headlights sucked and I now have the OPT7 LEDs in low beam and driving light positions. I upgraded the headlights on my 2011 also though. I will not be changing the suspension any though, my 2011 I changed out the stock shocks for Bilstein 5100's with 0.85" lift in front and TSB leafs in back and regretted that after awhile. Too firm a ride, but I did haul extra weight occasionally and the TSB leafs definitely made a difference.

Wow, yes, definitely different. Never, ever any incentives on Tacomas in Southern CA. (tundras yes)

Goofy grille. I'm not in the 'I gotta have a truck that looks a Kenworth' crowd. You can have a sleek front end, like a NASCAR truck and still have a badass offroad truck. The picnic table front end is ugly and of no practical use.
