Got ya. I thumbed through your build and it doesn't look like you've wheeled the rig very hard. I'll bet the first time you jam that front tire up in the wheel well as you turn through an obstacle you'll rub a lot more than that.

Picked up my gunmetal 4.5s at Vin's warehouse this morning. Quality guy, can't wait to get the Coopers on them. Lugs should show up from Wheeler's before next weekend. If all goes well, mounted next Saturday.

    Hi Vin,

I'm hoping to purchase a set of F5's around the end of May with a plan that eventually includes 265/75r16 A/T tires and a 2-3 inch lift (requiring a bit more time and saving).

In the meantime, would there be any problems mounting the stock Dunlop 245/75r16 AT20's on either of the backspacing options available in the F5's? I've looked up specs on the tires and 8" is the max rim width they are rated for.

Also saw somewhere that the steel wheel TPMS from my steel wheels (2015 SR5 4wd) would work with the F5's if rotated 180 degrees; true?

Thanks for any advice you have.

Nice meeting you and your family today Scott!

Yes, you can definitely run the stock tire size with the F5s. As long as the tire manufacture list an 8" wheel as being acceptable, you're good to go. You are correct about the sensors from your stock wheels. You will need to discuss this with your local shop doing the tire swap. Not all shops are willing to accommodate this request, but most will do it without any issues.

Looking so clean. What size tires do you have mounted?

Would either 4.5 bs or 3.5 bs work better for 2015 stock suspension stock tire trd off-road no trimming? 16x8

@SCSPerformance , I'm looking at buying a set of your F-5 17X8.5 wheels and I'm confusing myself. I'm a new to the offroad world and basically self educating myself. I have 2015 TRD Sport 4x4. Here are my questions if you could be so nice in addressing them:

    1. When I add my 3 inch lift and eventually buy new/bigger tires, what tire size could I go up to and not have to add spaces or cut? (I'm not afraid of cutting. I'm just curious aprox. what size tire upgrade would I expect to start considering cutting.

    2. Question for all: How silly will I look running stock size 265/65/17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs on a 3" lift? Am I gonna look like I skipped leg day?

    4. Can anyone explain back spacing a little more for me?

Note: I bought the Duratracs not expecting to lift for a long time but recently I was basically given an OME lift setup by a friend after his needs called for upgrading to a Fox setup.

Those look like 4.5" to me. The 3.5" have a noticeable dish to them.

    He's running 315/75/16 on there.

I would recommend sticking with 4.5" bs on a stock suspension Tacoma. 9 out of 10 times, you won't rub with the stock tire size, but if anything you might have to remove your front mud flaps.

    1. Once you step up to 33s or taller is when you should highly get the CMC chop done. With 32s, just minor trimming is needed for the most part. The majority of Tacoma owners like to run 285/70/17 with a 3" lift. 275/70/17 is also a good size to consider, but you're limited to tire selection.

    2. Very silly, but don't worry too much about what others think. Visually, it will look off balance. A 3" lift definitely calls for bigger tires.

    3. You will not have to run spacers with our wheels. They're spec'd out to sit wider than stock, but nothing that will look ridiculous. Here's a good read on BS, http://www.trucktrend.com/how-to/chassis-suspension/0706tr-wheel-backspace-and-offset/

    That's 4.5" bs.
