Ill be retired in 6 years. My kid will have school paid for by my gi bill. The wife doesn't want any more than her associates in nursing until they make her get her bachelor's.

Hope the MEET went well for the guys that took part! I have wanted to get together with some of you guys for a while, but seems you are all mostly on the other side of the hill. I have a lot of training and mission travel I go on and off of, it always seems when people go wheeling I'm either on Response or have some training/traveling to do! Sooooo..... the whole point of the ramble is, I am taking 2 weeks of leave from work right around the 4th of May through the 18th ish! I'm trying to plan a 7-8 day road/trail trip during that time frame.

Here are my thoughts..... and I would love opinions/suggestions for places to go and see!! I have some work buddies willing to join me for 3-4 days if I'm around the PNW.

Started a little research tonight and thinking of shooting HWY down to MOAB or Northern CALI then start going north on roads/trails camping a different spot every night. Maybe pickup the WABDR around northern OR and take it all the way to Canada. Spend a day or two around MOAB if I go down to Utah to start the trip. Hit a different water whole (lake or pond or river) each day as a goal for a camping spot. Most of the trip will be me alone, so I won't be trying to get to technical on the trails.

Let me know what you guys think!?!?! Thanks in advance for the input!

I have been saving up some dough $$ and just ordered spindle gussets / u-bolt flip kit and bump stops / NEW CMC (didn't cut enough the first time how F'''ing irritating) have new upper Uni-balls to install and lower Ball joints. I am going to do a full service myself within the next month or so, should be ordering a CB setup before the trip and a mid grade winch (prob. smittybilt 8K or X02 10K)

I will ask another question about gear shortly after I go through all my stuff and things I can salvage from work for the trip "on loan items..... borrowing haha"

She's at the Polyclinic. They don't require it thankfully. And really, there is nothing between the two besides some core classes. And when we move, she'll be able to still work at most places with the associates because protected status.

Howdy neighbor! I highly recommend heading down to Moab! I'll be at Rock Therapy June 1-6.

As far as other stuff, I heard certain sections of the WABDR were meh. Talk to @northwesttaco

I'm assuming you've explored around our area? Most of the best wheeling in the state is on our side of the hill.

Yeah man, from being in a jeep, on my quad, or truck me and some guys have gone up to funny rock/moon rocks a couple times. Went all around random FS roads up HWY 12 and 410 have slightly gone around Snoqualmie area... not more than 30-45 mins off the road while passing through out of curiosity. Gone all around Ahtahnum Ridge area, but there is still a lot more I haven't seen. this side of the hill.
What do you know or think about me changing my trip and heading East.... out past MT maybe Wyoming and back? I know there is so many places to see and camp around the NW of the country. I have lived here for almost two years and haven't gone far. So my goal over the next year or two is to explore and see as much as I can before the military moves me again!!

Lots of nice country towards MT and WY. I'd like to think it's better than here since I've never really ventured that far, but I've explored a fair amount of area here in western/central/NE WA. I've been through the Idaho pan handle and into libby, MT, I can only imagine what the rest of the trip would be like. I've always had a plan to get to Big Sky. And thats still maybe half way into MT but right on the corner of MT, ID and WY.

Watch the WABDR videos, also check out the Idaho one. If you plan on heading east I would suggest doing the Magruder to cross from Idaho into Montana (assuming its clear of snow) and checking out burnt knob lookout. Definitely the most amazing look out tower i've ever been to.
You might be very limited on where you can go east because of snow, south to Moab is definitely going to be better at the beginning of May if this snow keeps up like a normal year.

I'm just planning on doing lots of hikes. Going to start at Mt. Robson in Jasper and work way way down all the way to glacier over a week or two. Lake Louise is on the list of stops that I've been working on.

@bigbirch887 I am in the same side of the hill as you, but norther and easter (north of Spokanistan) Over the way, snow is pretty much melted in most areas. I drive a lot for work, and Sandpoint, ID is clear as well. Can't tell you anything about MT though. There are a few of us in Coeur d'Alene as well, and Ben (mbassman I think is his name on here) was talking about planning a trip last time we got together.

@bobsuruncle check with local auto parts chain. I used the "rental" plan from autozone when I did my suspension. Just get impact rated sockets and a real impact wrench, not just an impact driver, or be ready to be spinning a ratchet with cheater bar for awhile.
