Well if they base the pricing of a 3rd gen grill on the surface area of a 2nd gen grill...expect to pay about $800.

I'm diggin' the TRD Pro grille and that's definitely on the list down the road. I also want the headlights and tail lights because those have the black trim on the inside; but probably won't get the lights because they'll cost a pretty penny... maybe even more $o with the grille.

I'm putting the SR grill on my O/R mainly because I think it looks (to me) more what a Taco should look like. Laid back. In some respects I think the factory O/R grill is poser--meaning that Toyota is trying to make it look fancier with the new cheese-grate grill. I'm not knocking it, or the new Pro grill, or anybody who likes them. Totally up to personal preference.

It will be a tossup between the Pro or BAMF grill for me. All depends on price, but I like that the BAMF grill is recessed. The shift knob and skid plate will also be purchased. Contemplating the Rigid fog light set up. Waiting to see cost and performance in person and if I can install additional lights in the top slot. Lights are essential being we camp in the desert (Ocotillo/Johnson Valley/Stoddard) on a regular basis. Can never have too much LEDz in the dark desert.

So. Back to the original question. Does the insert simply bolt on to my grill shell? Lol.

The SR grill has the black (truck colored) bezel around it, so no I am not swapping out just the center grill. Think it's easier that way. But many folks here have swapped out the centers. Search this forum. Many pics (probably none of Pro grill swap yet).

That's what I was meant, if just the center pieces could be swapped.

I put a SR5 grille in mine and personally think it looks 1000 times better

I guess I'm in the minority here, but the new 2017 TRD Pro grill looks ugly go me. When I look at the posted profile pics, it appears to stick out at least 2" from the bezel. From the front it looks good and has a nice overall design, but to make it protrude from the truck?

Totally agree. Good from far, but far from good.

Recessed grilles are much more appealing to me than protruding.

Yes, possible and easy to just swap out the center. Here is my poser SR that started as a OR and will be a poser TRD Pro when that becomes available.

Do any of those options have the access plate for the oil filter? That's honestly the thing that I found the most attractive about the TRD Pro plate ... it would be nice to not have to remove the whole plate when doing oil changes, but I guess oil changes are only every 10k or so miles ...

Hmm. I just noticed this now that you brought it up. I agree, it looks weird protruding out the front.

Yeah I just went and looked at again...why would they make it stick out like that? If anything it needs to be recessed a little.
