Having gone 250k, Aug 2016 was the time to replace the original clutch & get the driver's seat rebuilt/stuffed. Front & back Weathertech liners. '05 Tundra front disc brake swap. Full length Rocky Mountain Rack with 40" lightbar, Alternating strobe rear dust lights. I used a warm weekend in March 2022 to finally install my brand new from old stock 2000 4Runner driver's seat. $800 directly from the factory in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.
I have the full set of his 3/16" plates. Get the 1st one at the very least with the oil drain cut out. Since you're not doing anything really serious, get the 1/8" plate & save yourself some gas money & MPG. My full set of 3 plates at 3/16" plus the line-x coating weighs in at 160#. In retrospect though I would have gone with aluminum plate. Aluminum does cost more initially but I imagine the fuel savings would add up pretty quick.

Rebooting is so easy, don't waste the money on a new cv just because of a boot. Get a set of snap ring pliers, roll of paper towels, gloves and boot kit. I've done 5 already and the hardest part is removing and installing the CV.

A weekend? Pull the CV before dark, rebuild that night, install in the morning. Boom done haha. It is nice to have a spare to reboot though.

I'm not sure what to do as far as painting, probably just rattle can it to make for easy touch ups. The reason I'm thinking 1/8" is mainly for weight reasons, I believe it's some 50lb weight difference. I realistically don't need full skids but wouldn't mind the extra protection if need comes.
I'm definitely getting the one with the oil drain plug as I believe that will make up some of the cost by pure ease alone. I'm doing an oil change tomorrow before work so I may be keeping the factory skid off until these come in, hopefully in about a month and a halves time.

Why do you need skids for sand and salt water? :p

Think I could snag some crush washers for the differentials from a hardware store? It's Sunday. Don't think the stealership is open

Necessary; probably not but for the deal, I don't want to pass it up since I know I'll end up pulling the trigger on some eventually.

If you do decide to do it, let me know and I can ask about doing a group ship to hopefully save us a few bucks each.

There's a $250 deposit due March 1 and the full skids are $350. When they're ready to ship, it'll be that $100 plus shipping. Shipping for the set looks to be anywhere from $75-100. I'm budgeting $500 to be on the high side of things.

He does have a rack coverage skid that's the front plate only which is $200 (shipping will also be less with not as many pieces and half the weight). I considered going that route but figured go all the way while the deal was presented.

If shipping to a business residence is cheaper, I'm going to have them sent to Conte's and just pick them up from there.

It sucks when it seems as everything comes on sale at once but there's one particular thing you need and it doesn't. Coilovers for you, rear bumper for me.

I have a handful of friends who headed down to the Outer Banks to try and surf somewhere in town. Think it's going to be mostly a bust, though there was supposed to be a little bump out there. Makes me happy though as I'll be stuck at work all afternoon. About to head to the parents place to get an oil change done. I frequent Doc Taylor's in the summer, their pancakes are the best.

It's so nice out today. OBX would have been nice. Choco pancakes! So good.
