strange ? about registration and off roading

Hopefully someone can help me. I have googled it but came up with nada. Im thinking about starting a build (if i can get my hands on an 85 or less yota thats what it will be). I pretty much plan on trailering it to the trails. Ive heard stuff about the rigs have to be registered and all that to be able to go on the trail? can anyone confirm this or does it not matter? i know if i wanted to drive it on the road id need all the registration stuff but just trail riding... kinda seems pointless....

well if you plan on taking it only in areas that dont require a licensed vehicle you can always green sticker it.

nope.. neevr had an inspection on any car. i know when i bought my motorcycle, i called the bmv and asked and they said (im assuming this applies to vehicles as well) that if its out of state i need to have an inspection but otherwise any vehicle can be tagged, obviously as long as the title is in the owners name.


i might as well tag it. who knows... if i wanna drive it, my insurance is cheap enough on a car like what i plan on getting(my 93 yota p/u 4x4 was only 15 a month with my insurance..)

it depends on the state laws, the DMV should be able to answer your question or your local game and fish.

Here in az you have to have a OHV tag if your rig is under 1300lbs. So things like bikes, quads and sand rails are required to be registered. But an off road trucks that's only for trail ridding doesn't have to have the same tag.
