Fabtech, ProComp 6" lift or more. Pictures

I want a DB cuz I want more height. I had a Ford 350 before the Taco, and I miss being able to see over traffic...lol

 

Honestly have to cut for 35's regardless of 3" or 6" lift


It's easy to know if you really want a 6" lift..

 

But not like I had too or anyone else with a ~3" lift.

I thought only a CMC was needed with a 6" lift? Honestly if I have to cut flares and fenders, I would likely just go with glass.

 

BDS does not have "anti-compression" struts like I have seen on Pro Comp and Fabtech kits. Any reason BDS does not need them to reinforce their drop bracket sub-structure?

 

The drop brackets might be a lil thicker and also the skid plate used on the bds/zone kits ties into the drop brackets.

I am not sold on the arched crossmember of the Fabtech kit. Do not see that little extra clearance in that one spot helping much.

What made you decide against a DB?

 

I'd skip the Fabtech - they use proprietary tie rod ends and the arch makes it nearly impossible to fab up a skid if you decide to wheel.

I had to trim my inner fenders, cab mount chop and trim the flares for 35s and still rubbed on a DB.

Anyways - if you are not willing to cut easily replaceable fenders you might want to reconsider the drop bracket all together....considering you are cutting your FRAME and it's not an easy fix.

Edit: Also with the frame recalls on 2nd gens, any frame modification could void a potential future warranty frame replacement.

 

I've always read that BDS has better quality parts plus the warranty.

Also if you don't like the differential being dropped then a DB lift ain't for you. Don't all 6" DB lifts manufactures drop the differential to try to keep your CV angles as close to stock as possible anyway? Hell mines a 4.5" and I know it came with one so a 6" would have to also. The CV angles would be crazy off on a 6" without a differential drop.

 

I like the low and big look. It functions great also. And if I wasn't happy I could swapped up to a 6" lift. Can always go from a 3" lift to 6" lift cheaper than going from a 6" lift to a 3" lift
