Glad to see a fellow Chattanoogan on here. I've probably seen you driving around and drooled over your truck. I've had the same one on order since November. I was told this week it should be here 1st week of March.

Took big blue in the dirt tonight, my 1st time actually off roading much more than a rough road, and it blew me away. So capable, easy to drive and confidence inspiring! I'll try to describe it using terms that may not be 4wd proper but I think you'll get the idea.

My good buddy Joe is a seasoned 4x4 guy and was kind enough to show me the ropes. We hit some very steep and sandy hills up and down the faces of "The Wall" where I began to learn about the gearbox, throttle control and braking technique. Then we aired down and did it all again to feel how tires react to varying pressures under load. Then it was off to the trails to learn the concept of the diff and transfer case, how to get high centered and extracted as well as picking lines through technical terrain at full dark. Once I had gained his trust I was asked to lead us through the most difficult section we had passed through and speaking of passing, I got the thumbs up for my efforts. We finished with a high speed romp through the brush lined trails where my old driving skills shined as I learned the trucks slip angles in moderately deep sand.

Unfortunately the low light provided only shit box grainy phone pics not worth sharing otherwise I'd show you some beautiful shots of us on a hill we climbed under a full moon blasting through the overcast with the lights of El Paso behind us as 2 of my furry kids ran circles around the trucks. I promise to make up for it as tonight was merely practice run for tomorrows much bigger trip to the Dona Ana Mountains outside of Las Cruces.

If it's not too late, check out High Country Toyota in Scottosboro, AL. I got mine in a week and a half and paid about 3% over invoice. Easy guys to work with. Capitol Toyota wouldn't even talk about negotiating, but Cleveland Toyota got pretty close to my other offer. Hope to see you around when you get your truck

Did you do the big water crossing near Holcomb? Is it still very deep?

Took my wife, mother in law, and nephew through Joshua Tree National Park. Did the geology tour road. It's like 10 miles of wash board.... And some rocks. Did it all in 2 wheel. I have heard that Berdoo canyon is better, we'll do it next time.

I didn't. I cut West at the intersection at the top of 2N09. I believe the water tossing is to the East. That said, I'm still very unfamiliar with the area. I'd love to meet up with anyone interested in going exploring up there though.
