It's called "Siri Eyes Free" and it is standard on all 2016 Toyota models.

    1. Your headlights do not turn on when the windshield wipers are on. This is normal and a feature that was left out of the Tacoma on every trim as even my Limited doesn't have it.
????what up? I can't be reading this correctly. Would someone please explain this. Doesn't make sense (or am I missing something?)

As a safety feature some car manufacturers have wired the headlights so that whenever you turn on your windshield wipers the headlights come on automatically because of reduced visibility due to the rain.

You can get around paying so much by simply calling or chatting with them. I negotiate my wife's subscription to about $20 every 6 months.

I just leave the lights on auto. So far they have done what I need/want them to do on this setting. If you're talking about the lights automatically coming on whenever the blades run/lights being off versus auto, no clue. Why would you want the lights to come on if youre just cleaning your shield?

In some states, including mine, lights on when raining is the law.

Bro, I totally get that and that's the way it should be. I cant stand to see people driving in rain and/or fog without the appropriate lights running. But, if they are set to auto, wont the lights come on if its raining? The rains not triggering it,its all based on the light. Well hell, if its not dark enough, they're not coming on huh? Will the DRL satisfy the law?

They were phoning me for a while, someone different everytime, one of them offered it to me for $30.00 for 6 months but then when I called back to order it they said there was no record of the call so I just gave up and use my iPod Nano now.

I am in Canada, and we pay more for it up here as well.

In Canada DRL's are the law federally and they satisfy the requirement for illumination in the rain so I am sure they meet the requirement stateside as well.

No, it just expires. I've never set it up to renew. Once it expires, I let it go a week and call them up, and negotiate until I get an offer I'm okay with. We don't do full radio - just the channel set she really listens to.

I simply have 15GB of music on a USB stick.

Ummm.... I almost got one this morning, and in dense fog lol. Luckily I told him the truth, just wasn't paying attention to speed, and I was in a rush because we have planes trying to take off in the fog lol.

Not necessarily. I'm sure quite a few of those people driving around with no headlights on in newer vehicles have theirs set on Auto and assume their lights are on. I always manually turn mine one since the auto lights are finicky.

Kinda surprising since DRL's don't make you visible from behind. Here in NC it specifically states headlights and rear lamps must be lit.

It may become standard. Some states have recently made it a law that if you have to turn your wipers on you also have to turn your headlights on.

I'm using this. Easily put thousands of songs on it and I leave it plugged in. I have the little door removed and you can't even tell it's there.

Having spent 38 years responding to motor vehicle "incidents" on our highways to cut vehicles up to pull dead and seriously injured folks from from the wreckage and aftermath of high speed collisions I am OK with government instituting laws that improve safety...

And as such should be standard on ALL vehicles. It does make a big difference in seeing someone, I for one realized after it was mandated in my previous state came to love it and couldn't see why every state didn't require it, it would be easy enough to do with today's electronics.
