I think GM needs to get their head out of the sand, get your ZR2 then do a comparison. Until then play the card " Only mid sized Diesel available"

I just read through the complete domination of the tacoma by the diesel colorado on their webiste: http://www.chevrolet.com/colorado-small-truck/colorado-vs-tacoma.html#

We don't get duralife brake rotors! What the hell?

    No OnStar??

    Only a 7" touch screen?

I have to keep my truck in my lane all by myself?

Screw this. Time to trade my brand new 278 hp V6 for a 181 hp I-4. Chevy says it has more torques so that must be better right?

0-60 in 10.2s compared to 7.3 in the Taco and 1/4 mile in 18.5 seconds vs. 15.8 seems much slower but Car and Driver must not have been using all the torques ;)

To be honest, offering a diesel may be the only advantage the Colorado really has, until Nissan releases their Cummins Frontier. Even so, I'm sure the 2016 Taco will outsell the druamax by a wide margin. As far as an offroad package like the ZR2, it looks nice, but I think the TRD Pro has it in the bag.

You do realize that the point of that website is to sell the Colorado, not make an unbiased comparison, so it's only pointing out certain features, and does not account for everything. If anything that site will not tell you about any reliability issues the Colorado may have or that things like DEF and the DPF may add to the cost of ownership. You would have to drive it over 100,000 miles to break even, depending on the state you live in. Here in Florida, diesel is more expensive.

except all the other areas the twins already beat the Taco in. Not bashing the Tacoma, it wins in certain category's, but the twins do win in areas as well. Just depends on needs of the consumer. Both a great trucks and BOTH have their good and bad.

And of course the Taco will outsell. They produce more. That is their plan, to sell as many as possible. GM didnt even produce enough twins to even outsell Tacomas 2012 sells. Let alone 2014. That wasn't their goal. GM sells 85% of the twins they produce. Toyota sells 72% of theirs.

The diesel twins are supposedly getting 30mpg's. If that doesn't encourage Toyota to pull out one of their over seas diesels to catch up, nothing will.

Well, that would be an idea if Mike Sweers were to just do it. Another option that might help would be for Toyota to partner with Cummins and create a diesel based off the ones sold overseas. Either way, I'd be happy.

I am familiar with the numbers on the GM twins and how they have class leading stats in terms of hp, torque, towing, and epa numbers, and I agree with that. Eventually, we'll have to see if the GM twins will stand the test of time like the Taco, or if they'll go the way of the dodo bird, like the their predecessors and the Dakota.

Most people have decided which one they want before they even step foot into the dealership. I did not even consider another GM product; granted they may have dramatically improved the quality but in the past I have spent more money and time on repairs that never should have been required so this time around I went a different route and bought a Toyota. And this is coming from a life-long bow tie fan.
At the end of the day it's your money buy the one you want. You could make a similar list that puts the Tacoma on top. The competition makes both of the trucks better and gives the consumer more choices and options to use beat up on the dealer when buying.

Ah interesting point. Although the are only speculating that I would not be surprised if it in fact has the V6.
The truck actually looks decent in the spy photos. I am interested to see if it in fact has a functional hood scoop.

Yes. As evidenced by the hood fluttering while test driving it. Bought a Tacoma.

Oh yeah, i knew that. Just wanted to back up his snark, lol. It wasn't unfounded. I actually had hoped they had improved. Found out quickly they hadn't. I'm a little disturbed about some of the quality issues I've been reading about the Tacoma here.
