This sound is getting worse, something is loose rattling like crazy. Even small amounts of throttle acceleration make it go crazy.

I believe a few members said the tray in their glovebox wasn't fully snapped in right and was causing this. Check that

Have you tried driving with the glove box open and pressing different areas of it when it starts to rattle to see where it is coming from exactly? My guess is Lawfarin is right and it's the tray not being seated fully.

My rattle/tapping noise is from the passenger dash speaker cover. Near the auto headlamp sensor

Mine does this as well. Tried messing with the glovebox as suggested, no change. Gotta dig around a bit more in/under the dash on the passenger side.
I've also got the overhead console rattle (near the windshield), and the headliner rattle - this one only happens at highway speeds and sounds like the hot glue holding some cabling down has let go.
I'd pop the headliner myself (and I may yet, 'cause it's not something you can ignore), but I do this kinda crap at work and it gets old lol.
First service comin up in a coupla K, I'm bringing my list.

One thing that drove me nuts until I figured it out was sunglasses in the storage box above the mirror.

Mine did the same thing and I found that the speaker cover was rubbing up against the pillar. I put a pieces of black carpet out of a Tundra that was scrap and wedged it between the speaker cover. The rattle has gone away completely. You might want to try the same thing.

i was under the same impression. mine is more of a "ticking" noise than a rattle. also only when cold, as noted by a couple other people. cranking the windshield defrost on hot will make it go away.

anyway, i have located the problem but not worked out a fix yet.

i took off the whole speaker grill assembly and drove around without it for a while. still made the noise. it comes from where the dashboard meets the passenger side pillar, i believe it is the cold plastic rubbing when the dashboard shifts/flexes from bumps, etc. if i push on the dashboard i can make the noise. in my mind i am fairly certain if i just spray some WD-40 down that crack it will stop, but i know WD-40 is bad for plastic. so i need to come up with a way to get some safe-for-plastic grease down there, but would prefer to not remove the dash to do so.

i googled around briefly and might try this stuff: http://wd40specialist.com/products/silicone-lubricant/

anyone have any experience with it?

mine definitely is not the speaker cover per above - i am wondering if yours isn't either, but you just managed to get a good enough wedge in there to stop it anyway.

Well I could see the marks from the speaker cover rubbing against the pillar.

gotcha. we could easily have different issues, i just know that mine makes the noise w/o the speaker cover. i wish mine was also the speaker cover, that would be so much easier to fix!

Yeah I was lucky and stumbled upon the cause of mine. Maybe still try to wedge something in there and see if it will be enough to get the dash to stop rubbing. I saw that in another post you mentioned it was the dash rubbing the pillar.

Thought mine rattled too, until I removed my sunglasses from the overhead storage console.

Nothing yet... Bought it with TWO miles on it!!!
Mine hasn't rattled yet...but I'll remember this thread.
Thought my driver side a-pillar area was rattling. Had a appt at the dealer, ready to raise hell. Turned out it was my dang garage door opener rattling in the cubby on the left of the steering wheel...
