What a experience! I had high hopes of the off road prowess of this thing but I had much lower expectations than what it delivered. I am somewhere between impressed and blown away. Lots of 4H, about 20% 4L mostly crawling down in 1st without brakes and 4 good bits where the locker was needed without question. The only time I felt slightly let down was when I high centered on a rock slab right in the middle of a ultra tight pass with less than a foot on each side. I had to back up, regroup and move forward. Of course this could be taken care of with a small lift and/or bigger tires. Speaking of those, the stock Wranglers also did very well and never sent me looking for a better, harder packed or shallower line. Aired down to 15/12 psi in rocky, loose, desert terrain. No, I didn't use crawl control or MTS yet so I can't speak to that.

The boys took me on some very loose and steep trails, you know the kind you don't want to spend much time looking at or you'll turn tail and take the B line? Yeah, lots of that stuff and I did bail on 1 section I would have done with sliders installed despite being told I could handle it without. Just didn't feel right. So the pics are the usual "they don't do justice to the terrain" type but you'll get the general idea. Dona Ana Mountains just north of Las Cruces, NM

    IMG_4372.jpg
One of the steeper bits but far from the most challenging.

    IMG_4374.jpg
I think that large group of rocks in the upper right is where we are headed.

    IMG_4391.jpg
Looking down the way we came up. Mega steep and loose with a super tight pass down by the rock mass mid pic.

    IMG_4447.jpg
The way down and out. Well... down to more brutal climbs and tricky descents. You can see some of what came next on the big mound.

    IMG_4451.jpg
Valet parking not available. Free wheel chocks were plentiful.

    IMG_4456.jpg
The Eye of the Needle, our destination. Very difficult to walk up and down with Good boots. Lots of off camber which made parking interesting.

    IMG_4465.jpg
Layla making her bed in the shade.

    IMG_4421.jpg
Zoe hard at work being adorable. It's what she does.

    IMG_4483.jpg
Full moon and full tires after 7 or so hours on the trail. Had a amazing cane asada lunch made from scratch on site up on top. I brought the thin mints and the beer. It's a push.

Grilled steak topped with veggies and chilies in cheese severed on grilled tortillas. Done right, it can change your life. This was that kind of meal.

Let me make it up to you. A better pic of the pitch angles we drove. Looking at my screen I saw it pegged more than a few times when I could afford a peek. I think this is one of the tamer ones.

Providence Canyon area. Taco did great, only damage came from hiking, wife popped her ankle and landed us in the ER...but the Taco got us there in record time. Believe in the power button. :plane:

So should I try hand polishing to see if the scratches will clear out? I gave it a good wash and a good amount of the scratches were removed but there are some that remained on both sides of the truck. I'd be more upset if I didn't plan on keeping the truck.

You can attempt to hand polish it out but you will see better results if you use a DA polisher. When you run your finger nail across the scratch, do you feel any gloves?

Not really. There's only 1 deep scratch. How much does a good DA polisher cost?
