Just a small spacer you can add to the driver side to help with any lean. They're stackable.

I've had nothing but great service from @HeadStrong Off-Road and recommend them!

All that aside I haven't read the first post of this thread and don't have a clue what it's about.

I just read the one post about 5100s and 884s and the lame, overly dramatic "crucify me" ridiculousness and figured I had time to speak from experience that it wasn't true in my case.

Ouch. Our experiences clash a little. Sounds like we can both safely say that the larger the lift, the more noticeable the improvement in performance switching to lift coils, no? Do you really feel having to pay for another alignment is worth it to switch in OP's case? The truck will still ride rough with those tires.

What's your current front/rear spring/shock setup, and your assessment of lift & ride quality?

I don't mind paying for another alignment and 884 coils if there is a chance of improving the ride

If it were me I'd swap tires first and go for a spin.

Then go from there on what the real issue is.

Front: OME NitroCharger Sport shocks, OME 884X coils.
Rear: OME NitroCharger Sport shocks, OME Dakar leaf packs.

But I also have a shell (220 lbs) that makes my leafs nice and comfy and P rated all terrains.

My truck rides way better now than it did with 5100s at all corners and the Wheelers progressive AAL with the same shell and same tires. Not to compare my current setup to a sub $500 setup like I had with the 5100s, but it really is a night and day difference in ride quality, road manners and tow/haul ability.

    Night and day.

    First suspension was under $500.

Current suspension is about $1300, and I'll need UCAs at some point - so it's a sizable difference in cost - but also in performance.

Thanks a lot for the reply, very insightful. I'm thinking of the same setup, but the Wheeler's HD 5-leaf rear springs instead...no plans for a shell or heavy bumper. Will my idea sit nose-high with 884s? Access cab.

Not familiar with those, but when in doubt, get coils after the leafs are installed and settled.

I've got the wheelers 5 leaf HD pack and they're great for offsetting heavy loads, but unloaded theyll rattle your fillings and you'll be skittering along in washboard corners, especially when paired with an LT rated tire. If you don't have a shell or regularly carry 500lbs of cargo, you're better off with a lighter duty pack, a 3 leaf progressive AAL or air bags, depending on the height you want.

First, I do NOT like preloading stock coils to gain lift. Others may find that acceptable. I don't. I'd use 884's or 885's (set @ 0") instead. I have 885's w/1/2 spacers on 5100's (very near 3" lift) and get an excellent ride. MUCH smoother than stock (and I started off with OR progressive coils) I went with Deavers 2" AAL in the rear. Very pleased with that too. Like I said, I'm almost at 3" lift, still running stock UCA's, alignment perfect, adjustment cams almost at middle of their range. The truck rides and handles great. No sense of "wandering" from alignment.

Tires cause quite a bit of ride issues. For that reason, I never like to change tires AND suspension at the same time. Do one, then wait a while before doing the other so you can get a baseline of performance and not be guessing as to which one caused the problems.

I'm running a 2011 DCSB, TRD OR, stock wheels on 1" Bora spacers, 265/75/r16 Goodyear Duratracs, load range C, 38psi, 5100's (@ 0") with 885X's, 1/2" top plate. (2-3/4" lift after it settled a bit) Deavers 2" AAL in rear (2" lift) Excellent ride, Excellent handling, Excellent performance on and off the road. Would do the EXACT same setup again without hesitation. newlift 003.jpg

So, ideally, I would like to get 884's. But I don't want to get an AAL in the rear if I don't have to. Were you nose high before the AAL with the 884's and Billy's at 0?

I do not regret what I did to my 2015 TRD sport. About 750miles on my new truck put from headstrong off-road 5100 set at 0 all compressed together from them with 884 springs. Leveled truck and made a big difference in ride and handling. Still have stock tires till spring and then there mite be a difference in the ride depending what tire.

I had c rated bfg all terains that had 3 ply side wall written on them that made the tire quite stiff the ride actually got softer when i went to e rated grabber at 2 s, im assumeing that the c or e rated tires applys to the number of plys in the face only and not the side wall i felt that this is what contributed to the change in ride mayb someone knows better than me but the tires play a big part in the ride of the truck.

So with the 5100's set at 0 and the 884's, it leveled your truck? Do you have anything in the back?
