My boy toy makes fun of me for going over the top with the maintenance on the truck, but I do plan on holding onto it so I want to keep it in good shape

I'm with Cam. Cars can easily last more than 10 years with proper maintenance.

Becca, how many boy toys do you have?

Ha just one now. I used to call my ex the man toy because I thought he was too old to be a boy toy

:smack: Did you click the links that I posted this morning? That 1st link is an excellent product that is meant to be sprayed inside the frames and it's not expensive. As a matter of fact I'm gonna find out if we sell it here

My FJ is pushing 9 years old- 130,000 miles. Service records from PO indicted only routine maintenance was required and I've only done routine maintenance (besides self caused destruction obviously).

My taco needed nothing but routine maintenance for the 80,000 miles I had it (sold with 150k miles) and it didn't need anything when I sold it. Disclaimer: it did get re-framed.

My 92 pickup hasn't needed anything but routine maintenance in its 24 years of life.

Can't really argue with that. Like Noelie says it's cheaper to keep and maintain if you can than buy new every few years barring no catastrophic problems.

Add to this we as consumers are conditioned to things not lasting or becoming obsolete earlier. Prime example, we get phones evvery 2 yrs or less. My old flip phone lasted 6 yrs and I only got a new one because it broke.

Depeneds what you want. Pugga wants max reliability and having kids is a good reason why. Cupcake's Rav4 has 137k now and we plan to squeeze all we can out of it, we're willing to deal with repairs versus another payment and don't have little ones.

Always easier to keep a clean slate when you start with one, plus seems silly to spend what a new ride costs and let it go to shit.

This is good stuff too. I got a can of this along with the wand next to the can of POR 15 out in the cabinet in the garage (It's like I'm running paint supply store out there - some day I'm sure it'll be a superfund site ). After spraying the Eastwood coating, the wand is nice to use with Amsoil HD metal protector as a rust inhibitor too. Get that crap up into the frame behind the cats...

No, Pugga has 2 reasons for trading in every few years. First, I get bored with vehicles. Second, I get sick and tired of the nickel and dime bullshit that comes with older vehicles. I never had anything catastrophic happen to the Tacoma, but there were a lot of small repairs. Half a day here, a day here, an annoying vibration here, a weird noise here. I maintain my vehicles very well, I just want them to work. When they start shaking down, I drop them.
