If you look at the big red arrow I drew, you can just see the head of the "mystery" nut bolt.
I am not sure about the newer bumpers but mine came with 6 nuts and bolts.

It was a couple things, first off we saw room for improvement. We believe as info grows on our end we should pass it on to our products (despite the cost). Another factor was we saw a fair amount of look alikes and wanted to stand ours apart. We believe competition breeds ingenuity, we felt the copies would be mistaken for ours so we wanted to stand apart. We also had just did our Tundra bumper and we learned a lot of things on it and wanted to carry them across all our product lines. At the end of the day we knew we could do a better product, so we did!

Very much so, just left a meeting with our laser company, they are working on the drawings now. It's simply not bigger material, we have to re-engineer a fair amount to put up with the less than ideal strength of aluminum. Aluminum is not as strong as steel and if welded wrong or built wrong you will see more frequent failures. You will see more anyways than steel but we want to make sure we take our time with these. Even when we do release them they will be a limited run at first. We'd hate to have 100 bumpers released and realize we forgot something!

BIG THOUGHTS! we already have one. Have you seen our 2016 tacoma? We will have at TDS coming up if anyone wants to check it out in person. That bumper should be out by the end of next month. We have a huge list for it already but we are not taking money, just names and phone numbers.

It's on our radar and hopefully will be build this year with no more delays.

Thank you! One of our huge undertakings we are going to do this year is putting all of our instructions into videos. We are also working on a wrench a thon with customers and friends at the shop so we can help install/teach people about their trucks and how to work on them.

Excellent news, I am in que to be the first 16 for a fabricator to remain nameless but communication has already been iffy. If i have to wait longer than other options become available, i may have to seek those other options. Comes as a catch 22 since his prices are rather low.

It may not be in our best interest to defend a competitor but I feel the need to be a little honest in saying that it's a tough game we all play of responding and updating and keeping the customers happy and informed. We know we have dropped the ball more than once in this area. Hence why on the 2016 bumpers we will not be offering a pre-order or GB on them. We will take orders for them once pricing is calculated but we are working hard on under promising over delivering this year. We like to say that we learn from every experience and grow from it. We also say everyone screws up, it's how you take care of it that matters. THAT being said it's a fine line we walk between customer satisfaction and customer taking advantage of your name.

Case in point, we are a small operation, I often will spend day and night answering question on social media, over weekends, while on vacation and also late night early morning from bed. I could have a really good weekend, I see our response time on FB is down to "responds within minutes" I'll roll in Monday morning and we have an angry e-mail about how we didn't respond right away and it deflates our fragile ego. So We try hard to learn from those mistakes and we try hard to improve, we won't always be perfect but we can at least try to be!

That being said, I hope you join the DeMello team:)

I completely understand where you are coming from and I can totally relate as a small business owner. I also can understand being stretched beyond our abilities as wait times in our business right now are out of control due to demand. Which is why i am being patient as possible but 4 months almost since first attempted contact and literally this has been the outcome throughout that period:
Me- "Love your work, have a 2016 on the way, a 99 an 05 and an 89 prerunner i wpuld love to start working with you"

    Vendor a month later- "cool"

Me within 3 minutes- "I am ready to make this happen just let me know when you have some time. I have money and am itching to give it to you"

Month later i have my new tacoma

Another couple weeks me again- "hey dude i know you are likely slammed but i just wasted my second bumper on my 2016 and it has less than 200 miles. I NEED YOUR HELP!"

Another month goes by and i see him post about needing someone with a 2016 and i jump all over that thread.
I get a pm saying yes lets make this happen and say just give me the word i am ready to go wish cash in hand... That was 2-3weeks ago with nothing since.

I am happy it finally seems like we are kind of on the same page and i am patient but also, hate driving my new truck around with a caved in bumper. So i have already started looking for an exit strategy in case the lack of communication out weighs my patience. Further, that bumper looks B-dass.

Your welcome, I love the look of the bumper I did a TON of research and yours is just (in my opinion) the cleanest one I could find.
now I need to get rid of the side steps, but I have a short wife.... so x-wing maybe?

Just got mine installed over the weekend. Still need to do some tweaking, minor details, reinstall skids and such. Used HDR on the picture but need better light for a good picture.
