More layoffs are happening at my old job. My old boss was let go today along with about ten others that I knew personally. There are even talks of moving all of engineering back to the home office in Metairie. It was a blessing in disguise that I was let go back in January. Jobs are few and far between right now.

 

I was just talking with a customer in our store. He works overseas oilfield safety something or other normally works 250-280 days a year. He said he's only worked 6 days this year so far.

 

Yup, this shit isn't turning around anytime soon. The offshore side of my old company is basically dead and they're slowly killing off the onshore side.

Thankfully Mammoet isn't completely tied to Oil & Gas. We have a good share of out stake in it, but if it craters completely we'll still have jobs to do.

Now to get back to creating more new products so I can cut ties and do my own thing full time!

Downstream isn't as ostentatious or extravagant as the Upstream golden boys, but we weather market fluctuations with far better ease and security.
