I'm looking for a day hiking pack. I have a 5.11 24 pack that I keep in the truck incase I ever get stuck/broken down and have to hike home but looking for something smaller and lighter for quick day hikes. Just starting my search so all info will be appreciated

    Thanks

For day hikes I just use the REI flash 18. Love it, sometimes will bring it with me on my week long backpacking trips when I'm camped for 2 or more days

Let's say you buy a Yeti or similar only to find you gain 24 hours of ice before it melts as it did before..

    Then what?

I just use and old camelback (not sure of the size) and I fill the bladder and put some snacks and im good to go. I always have a multi tool and a hammock just in case I want to chill. everything fits easily and its comfy. I also use it as my biking pack with food and tools.

If you buy the ARB plug, wire it up and figure out how to hold down my 50qt fridge you can borrow it anytime I'm not using it man.

    New battery for wat?

You don't need a second battery for fridge goodness.

And I already told you, as soon as I'm rich as fuck you're getting a fridge!

Thank you for the offer! I think we just need to go on a wheeling/climbing trip. You can bring most of the food in your fridge and ill keep the beverages in my cooler! Best of both worlds.

FWIW I have an RTIC 45, which is basically a knock off Yeti

I put a case of water and a 10lb bag of ice in it, and I was drinking cold water for a week...the ice eventually melts away but minimizing the opening and closing, things still stay cold/food safe temps

Sure, I'd personally go the same route if I needed a cooler.

My only Yeti product has been disappointing enough that I have no interest in their premium priced stuff when I can get the same item with a different name for 40% less or more.

All that aside, I still think a fridge is the best option but she knows more than I do - and I'm not paying for it. ;)

new battery for Runner....there's some generic one in there now, not sure I'd trust it to run the fridge and not leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere

When do you plan on being rich? Before camping season?

    Probably not.

I was hoping to win the Powerball, but the fact that I don't play makes it even harder to win.

An ARB, and I think other brands too, I imagine, run hyper efficiently because they are designed to sip battery juice on a 12V system. You can also set the fridge to preserve power and reduce consumption if available power is dropping.

Why will girls buy 600 pairs of shoes but not one fridge that would be used extensively on weekends to an adjoining state and in the middle of nowhere?

Oh yeah, you could maintain your wine at a perfect 58 degrees, too.

If you are really worried about getting stranded, just make sure you always park on a hill facing down, and wear your best Ranger Slut outfit.
