Why not AP? Not sure if Pelfreybilt still officially does their house brand racks or if it is a legit custom order. They've had issues with them in the past. CBI's just looks kinda weird.

Personal reasons why not to go with all pro. Yeah I have a feeling it is custom order from pelfrey but price isn't bad from them, better than CBI and all pro. CBI does look different but I kinda like it, just would need it lower.

Might try the guy awilson is using for his rack. Sounds like the guys could do it. Luckily around us there's tons of guys capable of doing it just a matter of finding them. Plus a bed rack is pretty easy to make so be hard to mess it up.

If I were to buy from a company...pelfrey all the way. Just had to good of customer service with them and they will do custom stuff.

Yeah I thought about him, probably send him a text tomorrow. If I do go with a company it'll most likely be Pelfrey. I left a message with her today so we'll see what she says

Can see if box @Box Rocket is still making racks. I always liked his bed rack. Or make one similar yourself.

I know a while back pelfrey stopped shipping bedracks because they were getting beat up in transit. Prinsu makes a bedrack that looks pretty awesome

    Bed rack DIY = Win

I've seen a couple local that look real good. @V5ioV did square tube and @Wheelspinner did round tube. Different heights and different design but equally awesome. In most of my cases I do all the design and material prep and out source the welding cuz I haz no welder. Like said above, bed rack is one of the easier things to make.

Aluminum or steel? I'll look closely once I get home.
I thought he stopped making them a while ago.. But I'll have to check. Hopefully he sees your post
Yeah they did, talked to Satin last October and she said they would ship it, we'll see.
If I did it myself I'd do square and have someone weld it but I can't bend round tube.

Maybe Pelfrey or whoever will do a DIY weld kit for you? Be easier to ship the aluminum pieces already bent and you take care of the welding.

is aluminum a must? I'm kinda like you i like CBI but its way to tall, I've been working in my 3d program to design one. I have full access to a shop to do the metal work, but will most likely be steel.

Ohh that's a good idea, didn't think to ask that! My main trouble is finding someone to do aluminum. Only have found CBI and Pelfrey. I bet Satin would do that though

I'd really like aluminum.. Weight isn't a huge deal but like @Tretiak30 said it's worth it so you don't have to worry about rust ever

Id be willing to talk to Brandon at Avid for you about an aluminum DIY weld for you. Just as a one off project for a friend.

That'd be awesome if you could! Basically 10" rise off the bed sides, round tube, light tabs on each corner, and hi lift mount. Any other little accessories I can easily get done here.

Just got a call back from Satin and she said they don't make the racks anymore. Slowed progress on other items and weren't selling enough. Won't do a weld together kit because someone could easily copy it and something about making sure welds are quality. Which is all understandable.

I figured I'm just gonna mess around with my buddies bender and make one up for me whenever I get a RTT.

To me though, it seems so much easier to just bolt into the corner of the bed rather than try to design something that goes over the bed rails. Why don't many do that?
