I dropped a camper on my tailgate and it is totally screwed. Metal ripped, all bent, handle broken off internally and externally.

Anyways long story short I'm looking for options

After all the parts, paint, internals, etc it will prob be like $2000 to replace it. (I'm in Canada).

I've seen some rear plate bumpers that have a built on tailgate, are those still a thing?

Otherwise is there a more offroad centric metal tailgate replacement?

What options do I have other than shelling out for a new one? There are 0 anywhere within 500 miles of me at any wrecker.

    Thanks guys!

There's a guy on ebay or Amazon that sells new painted to match tailgates for about $400

I can't really find any complete tailgate that ships to Canada. None of the Amazon ones and $100 shipping for the shell only for the ebay one.

Any particular links to complete tailgates that ship to Canada?

All I can find are some tire carrier types (which would be ok) but they swing out not down so I couldn't put my littler camper on any more.

There must be SOME option for a nice steel tailgate, or aftermarket bumper that incorporates one that folds down.

Really looking for any options here.

Totally an option. Unfortunately I think it is a typo. The manufacturers website lists it as existing for Tundra only and the pic there is a Tundra..

Called and yep it is a mistake. Doesn't exist.

Try calling a auto salvage yard. Even if they don't have one, they sometimes can find one through there contacts who happen to be other salvage yards.

Tried that. No intact tailgate in western Canada :(

I kind of feel that would be much harder to find for a reasonable price haha.

Wow, someone finally sacked up, and did it.

    Well done sir.

That needs it's own thread, or at least post in one of the multiple "Will a 3rd Gen Tailgate fit a 2nd Gen?" threads.

I also find it funny that the only thing that most people like about the Third Gen is the tailgate (myself included).

I know it sucks to take a hit on your insurance but is it possible to just put in a claim and pay your deductable? I'm in Manitoba where it isn't private insurance but if that happened to me I'd just pay my $200 and get insurance to replace it. Again this may not be an option in B.C...just throwing it out there.

Most people in those threads are looking to see if it's a 100% bolt on upgrade which its not, grafting is a whole other ballgame.

Funny enough though a bunch of 3rd geners already threw a bitch fest about 2nd gen owners doing this lol.

Somewhere over in the 9th circle of hell aka "3rd gen" section

Lol but seriously that's where the thread is, something titled like "3rd gen tailgates on 2nd gens is a thing now" if it still exists.

Yeah I might just get a tailget net until I can find something. I think it would count as an accident or something and really raise my rates so would be more than just buying a new one in the long run.

I guess I'll just keep my eye open for the wreckers. It is too bad I could swear I can seen nice steel tailgates maybe build onto a plate bumper here before. Ah well!
