At 62, I finally scheduled a colonoscopy, we'll see how things go. Been trying to eat at least one fruit a day, put on 5 pounds this winter, so need to work on that soon. Never weighed 170 lbs. before. Too much ice cream and post dinner snacking.

Mike - sounds like you've got this under control and lots of great advice here!!

Don't do what my mother-in-law did when my father-in-law was diagnosed with diabetes. She heard that cinnamon was good for diabetics - so she started buying big gooey, icing coated cinnamon buns and feeding him one every morning. We couldn't figure out why his blood sugar levels were all over the place until.....

I waited until I was 57 to have my first colonoscopy...and they found a pre-cancerous polyp. Just had my 3 year follow-up scope and got the all clear. 4 years not until my next one. My advice to everyone is DO IT!! The prep is harder than the actual colonoscopy.

    Morning all:
Sorry Mark, but I had to chuckle at the thought behind the cinnamon buns!
    I'm sure she meant well.

Mike, I hope you know that I was just trying to lighten the mood a bit. Laughter is always good medicine! I think that you being willing to share your experience with us is really cool, and potentially helpful to other folks. Thanks for doing it, and please keep us updated.
Yes just do it. My dad waited too long and got colon cancer. Trust me, you don't want colon cancer.

With that family history I have it done every 5 years. Prep is by far the worst part of the actual experience, but I think for men there is this whole "oh HELL no!" thought process that we naturally go through. Another forum I'm on has a bunch of guys saying "they're never going to do that to ME" and there is no way to convince them. Wiser heads prevail here!

My dad passed away in his mid 60's from cancer after the colon cancer metastisized. (sp) Brain cancer. Our family thinks its more to do with his spraying all those pesticides from the 60's on our peach orchards in Kalifornia. His sister died a few weeks later of a different cancer.

Picked up my truck this afternoon. The dealer let me start it and drive it out of the post sale instruction area. Looked for the push to start button. :) Well, when I test drove an automatic, you had to push the start button, on the manuals, you turn the key while depressing the clutch like a normal manual vehicle to start. Lesson one. Lesson two, after instructions, make sure the knob that engages the 4WD mode is back to 2WD. Acts like the emergency brake is on when on pavement, detected that before leaving the car lot. Discovered the warning symbol on the dash was the drivers door not closed all the way. Let's go. Plus side, truck rode nice and managed to not kill the engine on the way home despite a few traffic lights and stop signs. Gotta get used to 1st gear location, almost feels like you're trying to move it over to the left further to get into R.

The puter won't allow me for some reason to download pics today. I'll have to ask at work what is going on. Never had trouble before. I was going to mess with some friends and send them a pic of the grill and another of the emblem. :)

First? Man, I'm on the spot. I'll hit the camera shop on Tuesday, too much going on after work, lining up a smog check as I bought the truck in NV where I work.

I think the computer at my late moms place is the problem with me down loading pics from my SD card, will have to try a USB cord next week since I work away from home (5 weeks and 2 days to retire) all week. The small camera shop where I bought the camera had no problem viewing my card. On their computer, at least it shows the system running, can't replicate that at moms place.

Had to do one of my least favorite things around the house today, replacing the element in the water heater. it's in a small closet off the bedroom, so have to run a hose out the door to drain it, then fight with trying to unscrew the old element to get the new one in. Had to marinate it with PB Blaster to get it loose, so now the whole house stinks of the stuff! Yuck!
AND, going into day 4 with NO PHONE! It rained, so the phone's out AGAIN! it grounds out every time it rains, snows, or even in a heavy fog! The phone carrier says "yeah, there's a crack in the lines SOMEWHERE in the 22 miles between the office and the house, but we don't know where. "
This gets REAL old after a while!

These trucks are pretty touchy on certain items. Backed into a traffic bullard on the drivers side rear bumper. Did not put a dent in the bumper but it did break the tail light. No body damage either. Ordered a replacement tail light off of Amazon for $100 and it cane the next day. Wiring connector went in half way then stopped. Looked like all the plug keys lined up but the connector was a tight fit. Did not want to chance messing up the wiring harness so I sent it back.

I then ordered a replacement tail light from California. Shipping was slow and cost $24, total cost was $200. Fit like a glove. Still pissed about the extra cost.

I couldn't find the time to replace the headlight pod in my 07 Civic, so left it at a Honda dealer to replace. Gonna be $485. Damaged by a deer hit a couple years ago. Thought no damage had happened at 55mph, but when I was replacing the anti-freeze, noticed the light had a gap around it. :(
