3rd Gen Quicksand thread

Well it took 3 months (not complaining about that) but I picked her up last night. Spent the day getting new shoes and a few other goodies installed. Here's a splattering of some before and afters.

 

I've moved back to MGM from QS, but when I see a blacked out QS my pants get tight. Now fix those badges!

 

How is this truck not sold yet?! Hit me up if anyone wants a good contact at Town and Country Toyota in Charlotte. I ordered my 7545 in quicksand from these guys (still playing the waiting game). They are great to work with.

EDIT: just noticed it is 4x2...maybe that's why it hasn't sold. Still a great deal!

 

How did you get black handles? Plastic? Vinyl?

 

Good ol' plastidip

Much like doing the badges. Used a cheap sponge brush to do coats on backs & 3M electrical tape behind handles where you grab to open. You can't see the tape and should make it more durable.

I'm really pleased with how they turned out and I think they look great on the quicksand.

 

Could you get some close up pics of that?

I don't know if I could do electrical tape here in Florida, would probably just slide right off due to the heat and humidity.

 

guys I finally got to see quicksand in person, four of them actually, and wow they look great. Despite the amazing pics you guys have been posting they still don't do this color justice. Someday the dclbor qucksand will be mine.

 

here is a close up. I covered the keyhole with tape when I sprayed it & just left the tape since I likely won't be using it. Easy to remove if I ever had to use key.

 

Just bought a TRD Off Road in QS today. Lurking this thread and seeing all the great pictures definitely made my decision easy!

 

How durable is that? Will it have to be replaced on a routine basis? I don't have any experience in plasti dip. I like the black handles on the truck, they look good, wish it was a standard option to be honest.

I was driving around today and saw an "Inferno" colored truck, I don't know if it was the light or what, but it didn't blow my skirt up at all. My wife said the truck was more red, I said it was orange, as you got closer you could see the orange pearl look to it. Glad I didn't order that color now. Supposed to get delivery of my QS color this week. Very excited.

 

They look much better after there lifted. I had mine for 2 weeks before I lifted it and I was even a little unsure I made the wright choice. I love it now. The more black items I add the better.

 

Does anyone with a QS have a Prinsu Design cabrac? I'd like to see one on the QS to help make my decision.

I think I'll put on TRD pros gun metal grey on my quicksand. All I see is matte black. Does anyone have the gun metal on your quicksand Tacoma?pics?

I live in Roswell, but I'm in Kennesaw four days a week. I'll keep an eye out for you. I haven't seen any other quicksand Tacomas in the area yet.
