What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Added Blue Sea fuse panel inside back of center console. Repurposed the little storage on the back of the console that my kids used as a trash can... Reused the clips that stopped the door from opening too far and they now hold the door closed. Reattached with some CA glue. One 2 gauge power wire from battery to Blue Sea 70 amp breaker into cab. Using negative ground behind drivers kick panel. I'll put one under hood too for external stuff but since working on stereo related crap thought I'd get this one in first.

 

I'm looking for a good deep sounding exhaust. Any recommendations, sound clips or videos would be helpful!! Thanks guys!!

 

Yes, that's why they specifically send a pack A and pack B. I've read about people receiving mismatched packs on TW and living with it... Fuck that. If I hadn't received an A and a B I would have told my credit card company to cancel payment and let the shipper decide whether it was worth it to them to pay to have me ship them back.

Brackets welded and first peice is tacked. This is my first major fab project so it's pretty fun.

That's why I welded a piece of 1/2x1/2 steel there, and will be rebuilding up the ring with some more welds.



I have no interest in a diff diaper to collect dirt and loose even more ground clearance.

 

Mounted my tires by hand... what a chore that was. These sidewalls are ridiculous

 

I wouldn't want anything more than 1/8". If you look at how the frame and cross member connections are designed, they rely heavily on load distribution between thinner, flexible members. Heavier plates attract load and drop it off wherever the plates end.

Need advice again. As usual. Putting the turd 96 back together, and now with the new ball joint, tie rod, and CV installed the wheel doesn't spin freely. If you force it real hard it'll go over what seems like a bump and then roll freely again for about a quarter turn and then you have to force it really hard again. I can't see where it's physically hitting anything, but I might be missing something. Any ideas?

 

Think the wheel bearing got fubar'd when it smashed back? Is the CV able to turn freely if you remove it from the hub?

 

Could be the brake disc/rotor got bent in the impact or even the caliper.

 

Never tried to turn it with the new CV in, but it turned freely with the old one in it. It's possible the bearing is smoked. But it feels tight.

 

I don't believe it's brakes. Very well could be but not entirely sure. Have to check tomorrow. I drove it around for a bit and as speed goes up it starts howling more and more. Thinking speedy is probly right with the smoked bearing. But not 100% sure yet
