You only tryed them 10 times. lol
They are OEM but rebuilt and for $82 a side I just kept the old ones so I can put some new/better boots on them later. I do believe u get what u pay for but with 8 months and no issues I'm happy so far. I did lower the front from 3+ in. of lift to just over 2in when I switched from OME to ADS a few months after I put them on. That 1in. made a huge difference with boot rub. No more black ring of death and I have over 3in of down travel now :taco:

They are not OEM rebuilt. You may get lucky and get OEM, but they are not all OEM. Out of the 10, 2 were all OEM parts. Some have different inners, different outers, different shafts. It's whatever they get in china.

The two I received had OEM inner and outer CV housings and autozone told me they were reman OEMs. That's why I said oem. I completely agree with u guys that they are not the best option. If I didn't lower the front the boots would be F'd already. (fuck, the new ones from Advance were shorter so didn't even try them and picked up the ones from Azone because the front was already apart). Atleast people will see not to buy them and I assume u did get 10 cv's for the price of one and it gave u an excuse to work on your truck :notsure:

10 between left and right side. So, for the price of two.
My time spent working on the same broken shit is worth more to me than free replacements. I'm over it so I bought OEM.

Hey fellas, I'm trying to finalize my mid travel choice and I'm hoping y'all can help me answer a few questions I haven't been able to answer in my research. Any help is much appreciated.

My plan is kings on all corners. Front is "extended" oem performance series 2.5"rr w/700lb coils. All pro expedition leafs with flip kit and timbren bumps. Bumper and winch on front = 160lbs. Bumper with tire carrier on rear = 180-200lbs. Part #25001-119 and 25001-121. Are these the shocks guys running this setup get? Does "extended" mean just longer rods to meet the need of the specific vehicle?

Most of my questions concern proper shock length.
I measured my leaf travel extended at 27.5 inches and with compressing the bumps its at about 17.5-18 inches. Rear Center Hub to fender is 25 inches but I expect it to be 24" once I put the bumper on.

    Front question
Do the King coilovers guys are running (I believe these are the performance series oem "extended") have added travel or is the rod just 1" longer?

    Rear question
For the guys running this setup, what length rear shock did you go with(is this also just the oem King shock with a longer rod or is there more travel)? Do you have the compressed and extended measurements?

At full extension should the shocks be the limiting factor? The guy at allpro I spoke with said its fine for the axle to hang on the shocks but from what I've read this can damage the shocks and leafs should be the down travel limit and bump stops the up limit.

    Thanks for the help guys!

Did you read the FAQ? Cause much of what you ask is in there.

I did read ALL the FAQ and mid travel stickies at least once over the last few months. Didn't want to waste anyone's time.

I couldn't find specifics though on King brand length, part #, etc. or the other questions specific to my setup and what I want to do. Mostly they answer the general knowledge questions.

I have also made phone calls to dsm and allpro and more or less got the run around or general answers like "you'll be fine as long as your shock doesn't measure more than 15.25inches compressed".

You asked a lot, so ill pick a few points and answer.

Ok so " extended " means the internal spacer in the front CO is removed. This is to compliment the approx 1" extra droop that the UB UCAs give. That is all listed in what is mid travel and the VERY lengthy shock threads.

As for the right shock/pack for the rear, we have no exact answer becuase leaf packs differ. I know that DSM will swap the rod end on a King for the expo pack when requested. This is to be more functional with the extra droop from the expo pack.

If you are going with OEM replacement rears (meaning the shocks use OEM mounts) the shock will almost always be the limiting factor for droop. The relocate with a longer shock is the best way to get full use of a good aftermarket leaf pack.

    *disclaimer
Im not saying that an OEM replacement and expo pack isn't good. It is actually more than enough for most and works.

    *disclaimer for my disclaimer
All opinions are my own cause I really dont want to start a dick measuring contest.

I did ask a lot and I thank you for your quick answers! This helps. It's easy to get confused after reading hundreds of pages on other builds and sometimes contradicting info. Thanks for your patience with this newb!

Nice setup lockwire! I like the idea of the shock relocation in the rear but it's more than I think I want to get into got now with the cutting welding etc. I like its advantages though. Maybe in a few years:rolleyes:

Well OEM kings are about 800$ where the 12s are 500$.

The BAMF tower is 100 (DIY kit)
    Extended brakelines 80
    All pro flip 100ish

So you can do more of the relocate for less but it also depends on if you can weld or know a good welder.

Johnny, have you done the bamf relocate yet? We're you running kings in the rear before with the custom deaver pack? What lengths?

Also I like your tire/bed rack. Did you build it or buy it? I don't know how to weld yet but it's on the list for this year and I'd like to build my own bed rack.
